my grand father Adolph Fischer 1863-1929 was in the management of the railways, my grand mother Regina Spitz 1871-1954 was from Tirnova. Lived in arad.

Can anybody tell me where is the town of Knez,temes megye where my grandfather was born; I found the name on one micro film from the Mormons but unable to find it on a map.Maybe there is a new name.thanks for any help

Dear C Rodricks,
In the early 1900s there was lot's of name changes in Hungary, Knéz was changed to Temeskenéz. You can find it in the green colored Vingai j.(árás)=district of Temes county on these early 1900s County maps of Hungary:

You can see it as still Knéz on a little earlier map from the same list above, across from Temes in the yellow box.
Today it's in Romania (since 1920) and called Satchinez.

You're welcome. From Knéz they went to Temple in the bigger city of Temesvár, that's where you need to concentrate your research. I don't know where the vital register records are, in Romania it's difficult to know.

I am looking for any information on Florian Ferdinan Fischer born about 1865. He married Margareth Gajan born about 1863. They had a daughter named Helen Eleanor Fischer born July 22, 1900 in Austria - Hungary. Margareth's siblings were: Anna Gajan, Ida Gajan, Johann Gajan, and Josef Gajan. Two of the locations listed on ship manifests are: Temeskenéz and Győr. The family immigrated to America from about 1901 to 1904. Any information will help.

According to the family tree my daughter has assembled, one of my great grandmothers on my father's side was named Regina Fischer or Fisher. She maried my great grandfather David Boskowitz, who lived in Perlasz. Her daughter Laura Boskowitz married Adolf Ziegler and migrated to the United States around 1900. I believe that side of the family was nominally Jewish.

Gary Snapper: Grandparents

Searching for information about my grandparents Antal and Izabella Fischer, who died in the concentration camps in 1944. Lived in Budapest. Antal was born in Toalmas. He had a brother and sister, and his parents had a bakery in Rakospalota, Budapest (c. 1930?) Antal was a leather craftsman. They had one daughter, born 1941.

am sorry, that my Fischer clan comes from India around 1800's, and I have found my cousins which are living in Spain, UK, and two here in Australia. I have non living in America or so I believe. Good luck in your search, but you never knew what is around the corner. I am also searcing for my uncle Leopold's father who was with the Austrian Parliament, and my uncle's back ground is Adaztevel in Hungary.Leopold Markus Fischer b.16th April 1881 Adaztevel in Hungary and his wife Irene Elizabeth Freda b. 19th May 1897 in Poona India and they have 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. I am not sure if they are in ur family tree as well or u could be related to them, as this is un sure.

It's organized by religion, until Sept. 1895 for Hungary, and Adasztevel only had Reformed Evangelical Church, other religions records are under Nagytevel [R.Cath.], Homokbodoge [Lutheran], Papa [Jewish].

I am the great-grandson of the Fischer family from Dabas Hungary and I am looking for relatives. The Fischer family in Dabas Hungary had sons Fischer Ferenc, Fischer Zsigmond and a doughter Fischer Jolan. She married Szego Vilmos and I am her grandson. Oncle Fischer in Dabas Hungary had a bakery-pastry.

My g.g.grandmother was Mari Fishcer of Petrovatz, Bacs-Bodrog. She married my g.g.granfather, Viktor Grosz and they had three children: Josefa, Kobi and my g.grandfather, Moritz [b. 1840's]. I know nothing about the Fischer's except that I come from them.

The interesting thing is that Moritz's first daughter , my g. mother, was named Leopoldina. Not a very unusal name but still not at all common.

Bacs-Bodrog was in northern Serbia, now named Novi Sadd. My g.g.grandfather witnessed Moritz's marriage in Budapest (1860) and appears to have been living in that area no longer in Bacs Bodrog.

I have not been successful in obtaining any information on Kobi [possibly a diminutive for Jakob] and my efforts in finding Josefa have not been satisfying.

Knowing more about Mari Fischer would probably be very helpful.

I am about to go off to Europe for a few weeks so I will be away from my email etc. Should you reply I will respond after I return home to Canada.
