DIANA: Re: Freid/Kovacsvagas
My great-grandfather, Samuel Freed (a tailor) was born in Hungary in 1859, but I do not know where the family lived. He emigrated to NYC in 1888, and lived in PA for a few years before moving to NYC. My great-grandmother, Fani Brueder (her father was a butcher, joined him in 1893. They had 10 children, one named Anna, that died as an infant in NYC around 1900. I am hoping to find any information about Samuel and Fani. My grandfather, Rudolf, told me they came from Budapest, but other cities/towns were mentioned in immigration documents...Doleswa, Solesvia, Debrecen.

Diana: Re: Freid/Kovacsvagas
I have this information about my family's arrival in NYC. Thank you for this response.

They may have come from Nagy Karoly,Budapest or Kecskemet. Where do I go from here? I am planning a trip to Budapest in October. Would love to find proof of birth for my grandfather, Rudolf.
