canna4: Fuzi/Fuzy
Posting this message on both the Fuzi and Fuzy message boards as I have found records in my family with both spellings.
I am researching the following family names:
Kalman Fuzi b. 1909, Ebergoc came to the US in 1912.
Kalman Fuzi b. 1877, Suttor (Now Fertod), married Mari Horvath of Ebergoc. Kalman Sr. came to US in 1909 and wife Mari with children in 1912.
Kalman Sr. parents were Pal Fuzi b. 1850 in Suttor and Katalin Jagadics (daughter of Jozsef Jagadics & Katalin Gal) b. 1856 in Fertoendred. Both died in Csapod, Pal in 1935 and Katalin in 1927.
Pal's parents were Pal Fuzi b. 1819 in Kapuvar and Maria Nemeth (daughter of Jozsef Nemeth & Juli Vingler) b. abt. 1824 Fertoszentmiklos. Pal died in Kapuvar in 1892 and Maria died in Csapod in 1879.
Pal's parents were Vendel Fuzi b. 1784 Kapuvar and Anna Meszaros (daughter of Mihaly Meszaros & Katalin Szucs) b. 1786 Kapuvar.
Vendel's parents were Pal Fuzi and Anna Csigo.
I am looking for any relatives or information. I know through research that Fuzi means osier, willow, but wondering if anyone out there knows where this name originated from in Hungary? It seems to be a mystery. Anyone have a family crest for this name?

Hello Tina,

Great to bump into you again!!! Finally, I have the chance to thank you for the records that you have put together for me with such care. I truly appreciated it.

It is unfortunate that I have not yet been able to verify connection between our two families. My grandmother, who would have been a great source of such information passed away, so I am left with very little to go on until I finally make the effort to visit Hungary's western areas searching for clues.

The one thing I know for sure is that there are numerous Fűzis living around Sopron (I know of a family that we are related to Fűzi Orbán's) that lives in Babót.

Janos: Re: Fuzi/Fuzy
Dear Tina and Gyula,
The Fuzy/Fuzi families has at leat one strong arm here in Transylvania (Romania). Some other descendants from the States are searching the connections between this arms. I met the family data in Kokos, Csernaton, Szekelyzsombor and Homorodkaracsonfalva.
There is a legend in old Hungarian genealogical books about the family, how three brothers went to three different areas of Hungary.
Best wishes,
Janos - from Transylvania
