Julie Sparrow
I am searching for the family of John or Janos Gal (Gall) mother Anna Gall, later remarried, became Anna Vari, John went to USA, married Teresa Vig, both returned to Hungary, divorced, and Janos stayed in Hungary, remarried to woman named Margaret. They had 4 daughters who would be my mother's half-sisters. Any information please email jube49 -a-t- yahoo -d-o-t- com

sajruben: The George Gal Family
My wifes Fathers family is from Hungary. Her Grandfather on her fathers side is named George Gal who was born in Wagy Zerend, Hungary. His wife was Magdelana Meszaros, born in Kororladany Hungary. They had 6 children; Velma, Jim, Irma, George jr., Andrew (my wifes father), an Madelene. They settled in Canada. I don't know what port they arrived at in North America. My wife ould like to know more about her Father's line. She says there is a long line of George juniors and one of them was orphaned in Hungary. Sincerely, Steve Rubenstein

Zlatica : Re: The George Gal Family
Might the town's name be Nagyzerend and not Wagy Zerend?
There is a Nagyzerend in Arad megye, Romania.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910
There is no Kororladany but a Korosladany in Bekes megye, Hungary.

Hungary's phone site is at :

Romania's phone site is at :

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing a Reformed, Roman Catholic and Jewish records of Korosladany. You can order the films and gather ancestral information.

davidg20: gal
I can't answer your question, but interestingly enough the word sparrow can be linked to teh word gal. I don't know if your name and your ancestors is a coincidence.

Madonna: Szuszana Gal / Ferenc Cstalos-Pal
I am looking for information on my great grandparents Szuszana Gal and Ferenc Csatlos-Pal who were married in Petervasara, Heves in November, 1874. My grandmother Agnes was one of their younger daughters. All of their sons died as infants. My grandmother married Andrew Molnar in about 1900 at the Catholic church there. According to the information on my grandfather's death certificate in Toledo, Ohio, USA, his mother's name was also Agnes. I have a copy of my grandmother's baptismal certificate (April, 1882) from the Catholic church in Petervasara which is in Magyar and Latin also. I don't read Magyar, but my Latin is proficient. I would appreciate any information you can give me about my ancestors

Hi!
I'm sure that the name of the village is Nagyzerind, it was also known like Nagyszerénd, Nagyzerénd in the time of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy.
The village is placed in Arad county,Romania, and officialy is called ZERIND.
The surname GAL is commonly used in Zerind, these families use onemore surname, or a funny nickname in front of the Gal.
I'm from the Samu GÁL family.
Sincerly, Zsofia Szabo
