thomas_gegeny: Gegeny history

I believe that the name goes back to "Geg" with "en" meaning "others from." For a while it seems the family used "Gegen" and then in the early 1800s started using "Gegeny." Does anyone have any idea of when the village of Gegeny (Szabolcz megye) was founded and by whom? Would such records be in a central library or archive in Budapest or elsewhere in Hungary?

Do you know much about the family's history? Why is there a village named "Gegeny" is Szabolcs Megye? Was there a noble family there? Any information or history you can share would be greatly appreciated!! I have seen some of the village pictures at www.gegeny.hu

I did not recognize your last name -- you must be married now. Congratulations!

I try to do little bits of research when I can, but I have been so busy lately with work.

I'd like to go the Gegeny in Hungary, search the church records and any local museums, etc. It would be good to put what we know on a website for family!
