My Dad was Peter, who was the son of Rose and Louis. There was another Bereti family from the Punnichy area that were not related to the above.

I am Bill Tuttosi, formerly of Punnichy Sk. My parents were George and Emma Tuttosi. Grandparents were John and Helen (nee Horvath) Tuttosi. Grandfather had a brother Louis who lived in Cupar. I have never met him or his descendants. We farmed in the Arbury area and our neighbours were Joe Grenscher, Albert Bereti, Joe & Helen Tuttosi. My dad's 3 brothers (John, Steve, Tony) also farmed in the area. My aunt Mary married a Benko as is related to the Benko'S in Cupar as well as the Benko's still living in the Punnichy area.

Bill, I am trying to find out as much about my family as possible. From what I have been able to find out, Louis Bereti is the brother to George Bereti. George married Barbara Szeles and one of their children is my grandfather George Bereti. He married Helen Tuttosi and one of their twelve children was Pat Bereti. Pat married Merle Lawrek and I am one of their daughters. So you would be my Grandpa's cousin. I have talked to someone from the other Breti family ( they spell their names different ). But I would like to talk to you further. My e-mail fills fast. Please keep trying!!!

Shannon I have tried unsuccessfully in sending you an e mail with a bit of info on the Albert Bereti family who had relatives in Cupar) and the Joe Bereti family of Punnichy (who were not related to Albert or the Cupar Bereti's). I went to school with there daughter for whom I had a big crush. In discussions with her, she advised that they were not related. I have sent you an e mail agian today to your address, hopefully it will get delivered.

Sorry Gail I have been busy not only with my job at the Bank but we are renovating a house in Alexander , Mb. Also within the last month my girlfriend's ex died and left a house in Russell, Mb to her daughter. Unfortunately it requires a lot of carpentry work and since the daughter & husband are not capable they requested that Deb & I do the work. Evenings are spent working the ALexander house and weekends we travel to Russell. I did not forget you and I will be forwarding as much info as I can as well as copies of any old pictures and documents. Just to let you know, I recently was informed by Uncle John that Uncle Tony Tuttosi committed suicide about 3 to 4 weeks ago. Hopefully within the next 30 days I will be sending you what info I have. Again I apologize.

Thank you for the reply... It is just that so many people over the last couple of years have taken my information and not shared and I am just getting a bit upset that they can do this to me... I am being of a help to them by filling in blanks in their work & they then do not return the favour... sorry that I made a scene but I am glad that you are not mad... Hello Gail. I have only traced my branch back to Frank Tuttosi and was more interested in learning about the Louis Tuttosi side since I had never met any of my cousins other that Richard, Mary Anne. It was interesting to discover many Tuttosi's when doing a name seach. It was also interesting to see that there are still some Tuttosi's in Hungary, however, my aunts & uncles stated that all the Tuttosi,s had come to Canada.

Hello Bill. All the Tuttosis from our branch did come across the Frank Tuttosi branch [father to Louis & John] but Frank's wife went back to Hungary... Louis & John had had a baby brother who had passed away as an infant & is buried in Hungary... this may have been why she felt such a need to go back to the Old Country. The rest of the information I spoke of is Frank's ancestors dating back to 1732.
You mentioned that Tony Tuttosi had committed suicide...? I had seen the obit. but did not know that those were the facts... I am sorry to hear it... may I ask how & why?? if you know...?
As for the meeting of the Tuttosis... I can't say other than Doug Tuttosi... I had not met any others from you side of the family... We are having a great big family reunion for my Mom's side of the family, next August... I think it is great to get together and see & meet those related to you... I doubt though that the Tuttosi side will ever end up doing that... which is sad..

Actually, the Breti's and Bereti's in Saskatchewan are all part of the same family (though in some cases, you have to go quite a few generations back to get the link). They are from Bukovina, though (as you know), the Gerencsers and Tuttosi's are from Zala County.

My father name is Lajos Bereti and I was told that people from our village come from Bukovina about 150-200 years ago to Skorenovac (Sekel) and settle there.
Skorenovac is in Banat, Vojvodina and 90% of the village is Hungarian population.

simona: Bereti family origin

Hi to all! My grandmother was Bereti Victoria. She was born in Bucovina, Romania (at that time Austroungaria). She has another sister and 2 brother. That 2 brother emigrates on the Carpathia Ship in 1912 (the ship which saved the Titanic shipwrecks-from my grandmother stories), in Canada. I khow that we have some relatives in Alberta Canada who was in Romania Bucharest in 1985, i think, and meet my parents,grandmother,uncle and aunt, but they don't keep in touch because in the comunist regim it was dangerous to have relation with another citizen country. I have a chart of Breti's or Bereti's that go back to the 1700's. And you and I are in the same tree. was looking for family history. i met louis tuttosi a few times in cupar. he was my grandfather. quite a intresting and grand person. loved his stories about the early days. knew bereti's from welland ontario who were from your area. they had about 5 or 6 kids. been a long time. bob

I was wondering if you ever wrote down the stories that Grandpa told... those would be wonderful things to read... as I never had met him or even my grandfather Frank... who passed away before I was born...

Was your Grandfather, Andras Gerencser, the son of Michael Gerencser and Anna Herits? My Great Grandfather was Franciscus (Frank) Gerencser born 1863. He had brothers named Andras and Charles, and sisters Maria Anna, Rose, and Theresa. I do not who Andras married, but he had six children. Jusztina, Agnes, Vince, Mary, Charlie, and Andras. They were all born in Narda, Hungary.

My name is Frank Joseph Gerencser. A magyarom nem nagyan helyes. I was born in Sudbury and live in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. My younger sister Susan (ZsuZsanna)was born in 1961. Our father Joseph passed away at age 52 in 1972 on Christmas Eve in Sudbury. En szuletem 1960ban. His sister Maria passed away around 2001 in Toronto. He had an older brother still at home I know noting of. They were all from what is now Serbia. Joseph married my mother Maria Nagy Kutasi of Kapuvar near Sopron.

If the Gerencsers came from a particular region, I'd appreciate knowing it. I'm listed in Google if you want to know more.

Our family came from Narda, Vas, Hungary. My Grandfather was Kalman Gerencer(1886-1971). He was the son of Ferenc Gerencser (1863-1931) and Katalin Gruber. Ferenc Gerencser was the son of Michael Gerencser and Anna Herits. Ferenc and Katalin had five children. Kalman, Steve, Lena, Josef(1901-1985), and Anthony. Kalman, Steve, and Anthony came to the USA. Lena and Josef stayed in Hungary. Josef's son Kalman and Frank came to Toronto, Canada. I don't have a lot of information on them yet.

his Name was Ambrose Beret and was born March 1916
He was born in Hungary, and moved here when he was like 2

How are you related to the Gerencser's? I am a Gerencer. My Grandfather took the "s" out of our name when he came from Hungary. He was Kalman Gerencer. His father was Frank Gerencser. They were from Narda, Hungary. He has many relatives in Canada.
