Elisabeth Babarci: Gossmann family
I am interested in finding out more information regarding my family history. My Grandfather was Adam Gossmann from Babarc. He married and moved to Majs. After the WWII the family name was changed to Babarci. My father is Adam Babarci. He escaped from Hungary in 1949 and settled in Canada. If there are any relatives or if anyone has any information about the family history please contact me.

GossmannLeon : Re: Gossmann family
Good day Elisabeth,
I visited your website yesterday and was quite delighted to see other Gossmanns in USA since my grandfather emigrated from Germany to South Africa. My grandfather and mother was born in Germany and their names were Frederick and Anni Gossmann from Mucklenburg. They had five children of which four were daughters and one son. The names of the girls were: Cathleen, Violate, Elizabeth and June. The son who was my father, whose name was Christian Henry Gossmann had five sons and three daughters. I am the second youngest son and my name is Leon Ludwig Gossmann and I live in the capital of South Africa which is Pretoria situated in Gauteng province.

Elisabeth Babarci: Re: Gossmann family
Dear Leon,
I was so nice to hear of you and your family in South Africa. I had almost given up on anyone responding to the site.
Our wing of the Gossmann family, i.e. my father's first cousins are scattered across the world in Australia, Switzerland and our family in Canada. I have not been able to find out much about my great grandfather, but the Gossmanns's settled in southern Hungary in a Schwab village named Babarc. There are a few people left who still remember him, and I have been trying to gain more information. Their mother tongue was German, although they lived in Hungary
When did your family leave Germany and what part of Germany did they come from? I hope that they found a better life in South Africa.

Best wishes,

Elisabeth Babarci

Elisabeth Babarci: Re: Gossmann family
Hi Aldo,
It was so nice to hear about you and your family in South Africa. I am trying to find out more information about the genealogy of the Gossmann family. As I mentioned, my Grandfather was born in Hungary but the decision to change the name from Gossmann to Babarci came just after the war as the Russians settled in. There were five children in my Grandfather's family. One of my cousin's lives in Zurich, Dr.Laszlo Babarci, another branch of the family emigrated to Sydney Australia, and my father, to just outside of Toronto Canada in 1951. I am sure there must be some familial connection to the family in Germany.
My best wishes to you and yours,

Elisabeth

Leon. Thanks for you response. I was born in Magdalena home for pregnant women. They don't want to give here name. They told me at that stage she was learning for a hairdresser. We live in Ceres and later we moved to Saldanha. I am now staying in Somerset West. I got the court number from Wynberg magistrates court. My surname is Malan. There is nothing in life that I want more is to know and learn about my family.
