DMWoelke: Re: Hajer in Fegyvernek
My Anna Hajer's father was Jozsef Hajer, born in Martonvasar, Fejer county. Anna was born and married in Fegyvernek, Jasz-Nagy-Kun-Szolnok county. Both are in Hungary, not Austria. My grandfather used to tell me his mother was from Austria. NOT. It was Austria Hungary at the time of her birth, under Hapsburg rule. Anna and her husband, Rudolf Kalman Kozma emmigrated from Fegyvernek in 1907 via Ellis Island. They had an 18mos. old (Karoly Jozsef) and 4.5 mos. old, Istvan with them. Istvan died at sea. Three other children were born in the US: Maria, Joseph Rudolph (my grandfather) and William. If you think you are related, please contact me.

DMWoelke: Re: Farago
This is not a name I have in my database. I do know people presently in Hungary from this village who are researchers, one works at the National Archives in Obuda, the other is researching a Romanian village but is from Fegyvernek. I have an American contact living in Budapest who will do research in Hungary (not certified, but experienced) for $12/hr. You should be aware, however, that the only films that the archives have there were filmed by the Mormon Church and left for the Hungarian National Archives. All films are accessible through Familysearch.org

After some research it is hard to say with old maps weather it was Austria or Hungry at the time...

Deborah: Whether or not the village was originally in Hungary is easy enough to determine. What is the village name you are looking for?
