steve: Stefan Hancko B. Sept. 1898, Zikowka, Hungary, 1900 Census request

I am looking for a 1900 or 1910 census on Stefan Hancko. or Istvan Hancko, born sept 22 1898 in Zikowka, Hungary. Father is Joseph Hancko. He woulda immigrated in 1913 to NYC,NY, U.S.A. I also would like info. on Zikowka, Hungary, and current location/name. and does anyone know if Istvan is the same as Stefan? Thank you very much

From what sort of document are you getting Zikowka?
I found only one person coming thru Ellis Island from Zikovka, Liptovska zupa. No such village unless it it Likavka, Liptov region, Slovak Republic.
Surname HANCKO does show up in SK's phone book.

Istvan HANCKO arr. in 1913 from Sikowka (Likowka). Istvan was Slovak and naturalized citizen. The set of numbers by his name on the manifest.
Likavka, Liptov region, Slovak Republic was Likauka/Likawka/Likavka cum Lubochna et Briesztocsna/Lykavka, Lipto megye, Hungary.
www.obce.info village Likavka has 3032 inhabitants.

http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 to find it on Lipto megye map.

I got your reply's and thank-you, Zikowka I got from ancestry.com New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957. I havent been able to read who he came over to join tho. or where he was heading. Istvan is Stephen in English bye the one site you sent me, so this is my grgrampa. I will be going thru the other sites you sent me too, Thank-you very much. It doesnt look so far like I can access the census there though. lds site keeps putting me rite back where I started from! so have too figure that one out. I do have family living in Hungary and Austria on my Hancko/Harcek side, but my grgrandparents never gave out thier names or any info.for they kept in touch with them thru mail, and they have since passed. so I believe my work is cut out for me.lol
Thank-you and will be going thru the rest of the reply's you sent as well and hopefully find out more..

I have posted to several of your posts and left websites for research. The one you really need to look thru is www.iabsi.com/gen/public It is ALL there for the research.
If you happen to have those old letters, that sure would help. I would suggest a letter to the village but for sure going thru the church records.
I do not have a paid subscription to Ancestry so can not help with US 1910, 1920 and 1930 census. If you want to communicate off the board, you can.
In LDS site click on Place Search and type Likavka. It is only 1 roll and in Latin for the Roman Catholic church records. Up to 1918 the records would say Hungary. After the fall several new countries and one was Czechoslovakia, which in 1993 separated into Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. www.cgsi.org
