bettye m. Dove: Haszara
I am trying to locate some history on the Haszara family who lived in Lapos, county of Saros, district of Giralti, current county Slovakia.. They were living there in 1907.
Given name was Jan (John) and his family. One of the sons
came to USA in 1907 and settled in Pennsylvania. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. B. Dove

Use One step/gray form: www.stevemorse.org
from Lapos: HASZARA and HASARA,
Look for all possible transcribing errors of a surname and a village. Found KASZARA, HASJARA, HAZARA.

Joe Wirtes: Re: Haszara
May or may not be the same family. My grandfather, John Hasara (Haszara) came to this country in 1901 and settled in Homestead, Pa before relocating to Gary, Indiana in 1920.

bettye m dove: Re: Haszara
Hi, Joe, thanks for your response. The Janos Hasara I am reserching came over in 1907 to New York. He was sixteen at the time. I found the imigration record. He landed in New York. Then went to Schuylkill county, Pa. (Mahanoy) and lived there for the next 59 nine years.
The manifest stated that he came from Lapos, Saros and then I can not make out the next word. It stated that his father was Jan Hasara.
He was alone. He married Susan Gulick in Mahanoy. I would so much like to find out who his parents were. His obituary stated that he had three brothers and a sister Anna. All of Czechsovakia. I do not think that this person was of your family. Perhaps related if they came from the same district. (which in my case was Giralt.Thanks.

Were you not informed about my 2 posts to your query?
The LDS-Mormons site is listing Evangelical church records of Lopuchov. If this is not the religion of your ancestor than you need to search where the RC or GC denomination people from Lopuchov went to worship.
HASARA does show up in Lopuchov's phone book.
Lopuchov and Tulcik are about 13 km apart.
From his manifest: father: Hasara Jan, Lapos Rap..ncza/ Kaproncza Saros.if I am reading it correctly, the village Kaproncza - Koprivnica is up the road from Lopuchov about 5 km. Checked Koprivnica's phone book and yes HASARA does show up in the phone book. In the area code 054, which includes Lopuchov and Koprivnica a surname GULIK in Stropkov, Mlynarovce and Vysna Jedlova. www.zoznamst.sk

I am the person who put Haszara ( Hasara) in Slovak Pride. My Grandfather was John Haszara (Hasara). However, he arrived in Homestead, Pennsylvania in 1901, maried Anna Pohar and 8 children were born to this union. My Mother, Anna, was born in 1910. They moved to Gary, Indiana in 1920. If any of this fits and you want more info write me at jcwirtes -a-t- att.net -d-o-t-
