hausergirl: Isaac Hauser?
Hello! I seek information on my great grandfather, Isaac Hauser, who came to New York, USA about 1885. He was an orphan from a town sounding like "oo-ee-hil," I believe it may be Ujhely. I am told he had a Hungarian cousin in New York, Anna Schon. Also, he may have come to USA with Morris and Carolena Klein. Thanks for any connections you can help me make. I am very excited to learn more!

Thanks, Danise Hauser, USA 2/20/04

Not related just want to give you some useful websites for your research.

Hungary's phone site is at :
www.matav.hu/tudakozo
http://matav.hu/tudakozo
The surname HAUSER lists in the phone book.

It is possible that Ujhely is short for Satoraljaujhely which is in Hungary or it might be Ujhely which is now in Romania.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :

Sorry, put down wrong phone site.
It should be :
http://tudakozo.matav.hu

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records of several European countries so check out their website what they might have for Ujhely.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.
