I got her name from my mothers Certificate of Baptism from the Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, NJ. My mother Elizabeth Chomay was born Mar 25, 1917. My grandfathers name was Zigmond Chomay(Csomai, Czomay). After the 1917 baptism I find no record of the family until the 1920 Federal Census in Detroit, Mi. My grandmother whose birthday I derived from the census was born around 1897 in Hungary, Immigrated around 1910 and died shortly after 1920 of TB? My grandfather had 2 brothers who lived and died in Cleveland, Ohio, and they both married woman named Elizabeth. My mother was raised by James Chomay and his wife in Cleveland after my grandmothers death. |
