Sandi Madsen: St. Michael's
My grandmother is listed as being from St Michael, Burgenland Austria. Her name was Marie Hirmann and she was born Dec.6,1891. She was the daughter of Paul Hirmann and Katharina Matisowitz. I am looking for information on Paul Hirmann or where exactly St Michael was located.

Sandi

You know that St. Michael is written in English thus in Austria it would be Sankt Michael.

Some search engines :
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
www.vivisimo.com
www.genealogienetz.de/reg
Austria's phone site is listing HIRMANN.
www.herold.at
There were 19 HIRMANNs that passed thru Ellis Island but none of them were from St. Michael. there was an Adolf HIRMAN that was from Pusztaszentmihaly which is Szant Michael, Austria.
The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing a Roman Catholic church records of Pusztaszentmihaly aka Sankt Michael. You can order the films and gather ancestral information.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.
