scipman: Hochheiser
My paternal Grandmother's family name as shown on her
New York City marriage certificate was Dora Hockheiser.
She came from Hungary to the USA in the 1900- 1910 time
frame. Does anyone know if there is a realtionship between
her name and the name above Hochheiser?
I appreciate anyone's help with this.
THANKS!

Zlatica : Re: Hochheiser
This could be just a typing error or written as one heard the name pronounciated.

37 HOCHHEISERs and 1 HOCKHEISER passed thru Ellis Island. I would say that Hochheiser might be a more correct spelling and it is all in pronounciation of a name.
You need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research.

The Hungarian phone site is listing a name Hochheiser.

The LDS-Mormons have filmed the church records but you need a name of a town and religious orientation of your ancestor.
