Frank Hollinger: Hollingers in Banat
Would like to swap info on Hollingers in Banat. My great great grandfather, Max Mathias Hollinger, was born in Heufeld/Nagy-Toszeg in 1883. Left for Denmark in 1907.
Parents were Jakob Hollinger and Mitzi Hollinger, born Schirato (Italian family name). Children: 3 boys and a girl. They are believed to be buried in a catholic cementary in Lugoj (Timisoara county), Romania.

Frank Hollinger, Denmark.

HOLLINGER, JOSEF: Re: Hollingers in Banat
Dear Frank, I am an Hollinger of the Banat, born 1940 in Stefansfeld, today Krajisnik. In the line of my ancestors back to the settlment in the year 1770 in St. Hubert/Banat is only 1 missing link: The parents of Jakob Hollinger, born 1842 in St. Hubert, today Banatsko Veliko Selo. Until now I couldn't get the birth registers of St. Hubert from that year. May be you know more.

Frank Hollinger: Re: Hollingers in Banat
Dear Josef, I have been searching for some years for ancestors in that line of my family. Due to lack of time, family and business, I have not done research recently. But your mail will urge me to look into my papers again and collect some information for you. Let me know your private mail adress and I will send you all that I have - including photos of Jacob and his family!
However, some suggestions:
1. Have you looked into the Mormon files in Utah where they have birth reg fom Banat on film?
PPS Are you looking in the right place? -Have you looked into the files of Heufeld where Jacob Hollinger had at least one son, my g-g-grandfather, Max Mathias, registreted? I have an old Danish article with an interview with Max where he tells about Skt. Hubert as his home town but the immigrant registration here shows that he was birth registreted in Heufeld. Maybe they lived in Skt. Hubert but where registreded in Heufeld?
BTW, how are you related to Jacob?

Hollinger: Hollingers in Banat
Dear Frank,10 days ago I sent you an e-mail with my postal adress, but I suppose that Radix Form doesn't transmit mails with private adresses. How we do now? Or did you get my mail but you didn't have time to check your papers and to send more info about your ancestors. The Jakob H. in your line is not the same as in my line. My g-g-grandfather married 1867 in Stefansfeld Katharina Ludwig and is also died in this village.Greetings, Josef

craighullinger: Re: Hollingers in Banat
I was surprised to find so many Hollingers ifrom Romania in the Holocaust in WW II

Most of our Hollinger (Hullinger) history is protestant, from Aargau Switzerland.

Do you know the connection between the Romanian Hollingers and the Swiss Hollingers?

FrankHollinger: Re: Hollingers in Banat
The connections is not clear. But it seems clear that the Banat Hollingers in what is now Romania comes from the old German Empire(now Northern France), Alsace-Lorraine. Still Hollingers living in that area. My line is probably Lorraine.

There are also Hollingers in Upper Germany.
