KrisStrotman: Hunsdorfer/Hunfalvy
Looking for Hunsdorfers from Neuwalddorf (also known as Nova Lesna or Also Erdõfalva). I believe Hunsdorfer derived from Hunfalvy some time around 1850. Hunsdorfers were mountain climbers in High Tatra Mountains, Spis (Szepes County), Slovakia.

Made a mistake on the spelling. The 7 that passed thru Ellis Island were HUNSDORFERs but there were 9 HUNDSDORFERs too. Three of them were from Nagy Szalok which is now Velky Slavkov, Slovak Republic
Neither surname shows up in SK's phone book.

fericzobor: Re: Hunsdorfer/Hunfalvy
Hunsdorfer is not derived from Hunfalvy, but vice-versa:
the renowned Hungarian linguist and ethnograph Pal Hunfalvy (1810-1891), born in Nagyszalok, changed some time around 1850 his original surname, Hundsdorfer, into Hunfalvy.
There was also a geograph (and mountain climber in High Tatra), Janos Hunfalvy (1820-1888), born he too in Nagyszalok, whose original surname was Hunsdorfer (not Hundsdorfer).
This Nagyszalok locality was in the Szepes County and now it is in Slovakia with the name Vel'ky Slavkov.
