| Aliana: Iharosi | Just an update:
Well this has certainly helped find some long lost relatives in Hungary. Here's an update of what I've learned:
My great grandfather was István (Stephen) Iharosi Sr., once married to Julianna Samo (my grandfather's mother). He re-married and had children so there are other cousins out there in Hungary too. I believe his son is István Jr and that he has a son who I have been in contact with named Gergely.
It has been confirmed that our surnames and both my grandfather and father's first names were changed by immigration when they came to Canada in the 1950's. It was common to "westernize" names back then.
My grandfather is Laszlo "Les" Iharosi/Iharosy Sr. He married Annaska "Anna" Herczeg and they live in the country south of Sauble Beach, Ontario. They have two sons, Laszlo "Les" Iharosy Jr. (my father) and George Iharosy (my uncle).
Including my father and my uncle's children, there are four more of us Iharosi/Iharosy descendants: myself (Aliana), my brother (Josh), and my two cousins (Maxine-Anne and Mike).
We are scattered all over Ontario, Canada and don't keep in touch much outside of the internet. Maxine and I are quite welcoming about keeping in touch with our Hungarian relatives so please feel free to get in touch.
