EAGLE RTP: Re: Jancsurák család
Are you in Sajo Vamos?
Will you charge for your help?
Perhaps you could first help me with a Jancsurak task in Kosice.

I visited Velki Saris and Kosice 2 years ago and asked about my ancestors there. Some of the church books were in transit from the church archive to the regional archive and as a result I searched and found in the index the following information, but could not view the original record for the birth of a Zophie Jancsurak in 1900. As I saw not other Jancsuraks listed by an Anna (who is my great grandfather's sister), I assumed her father to be Andras Istvan Jancsurak, who was born in Velki Saris; and her mother to be Maria Jancsurak nee Konkoly of Chrast nad Hornadom (aka Haraszt). Andras and Maria married in Kosice in 1900.
If all you could do was to help me write a letter in Slovak (or something other than English, which hasn't worked) I would really appreciate it.
The persons who aided me at the Church archive were very kind. The mailed me a copy of the marriage record and even sent me a book about St. Elisabeth's Cathedral, which is where they were married. I have wanted to thank them ever since.

Thank you.

Hy!
My name is István Jancsurák(István=Steven, =Stephen). I live in Miskolc. My grantfather was born in Sajóvámos(Old name:Sajó-Vámos). My family tree consist of about 250 persons. I have got 20 Jancsurák in my surname list. They are from Sajóvámos and Ziliz.
I go to regional archives in Miskolc. I found Jancsuráks lived in Boldva, Rudabánya, Szendrő, Edelény, Sajóvámos, Ziliz, Alsóvadász.
I am searching before 1825 now.

Bye!

EAGLE RTP: Re: Jancsurák család
Sajovamos and Miskolc are in Hungary, correct?

My research stops at Gyrogy Jancsurak, born November 1836 in Vorosvagas (now Cervenica, Slovakia). He was a lutheran, so his records were in the Lutheran Parish in Ofalu (now Opina, Slovakia). His father is Gyorgy Jancsurak and mother is Anna Bodnar or Bochnad.

No other entries were found for these individuals except for a son, Andras Istvan Jancurak, born to Gyorgy the younger in Nagy Saros (now Velki Saris, Slovakia) with mother Dorothea Kovaly of Soovar (now Solivar, Slovakia).

Perhaps you could tell me about the surname. Does it mean anything? My interpretation of it is, well, interesting... You may be able to clarify for me.

So far as I can tell, only two Jancsurak families emigrated to the United States. They both came from the Kosice area, but further east than my own ancestral cities.
