fkaiser: information
I'm doing some research on my grandfather Peter Kaiser. He was born in 1903 in Csonoplya/Tschonopel? He came to the United States via Ellis Island around 1920 to 1921. He moved to Johnstown, NY and stayed with the Schreiber or Schreiner family. Eventually he moved to Akron, Ohio where he raised a family, finally passing away in 1973

The town of Csonoplya, Bacs-Bodrog megye, Hungary is now Conoplja, Yugoslavia.
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 to locate Csonoplya
Use www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm to locate Conoplja.
www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ESE/dsinfo.htm
The LDS-Mormons website is listing church records of Csonoplya. You can order the films and gather ancestral information.

Kali: kaiser, stefan
I am trying to research Stefan Kaiser who married Johanna Suzanna Lej, my gg grandparents. They came to the US in 1901 and 1902 with their children. Changed their name to Keiser. I have no idea how to look up any information for them from Hungary. She was supposedly born in Francfeld, Hungary on 25 June 1869, don't know where he was born but his birthday is 25 Apr 1865. Married around 1887. I don't know their religion. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be really appreciated.

Take a look in www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ESE/dsinfo.htm in Banat village Franzfeld/Francfeld. Check the church records.

It seems that you received the information about the village and church records from Robert Jerin on http://genforum.com Hungary board. Search to see if there is a Family History Center Library close to you so you can view the church films.
An old map where you will find the towns:
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Torontal megye. Pancsova is on the bottom of the map in sort of dirty brown surrounded by pink.

baja01: Re: information
Dear fkaiser!
Probably I can help you for finding some relations to your grandfather. The grandmother of my wife is named Gertrud Seitz (1889-1973), her mother was Anna Maria Kaiser (1863-1936). Gertrud Seitz and her mother were born in Csonoplya. Around the 20s of the last century Anna Maria Kaiser returned from Hungary to her relatives and died in Csonoplya. Anna Maria Kaiser's parents were Michael Kaiser and Elisabeth Hoffmann. Unfortunately Hungary lost Csonoplya after the first war and the connection among family members was disrupted. You can reach me through email: baja01 -a-t- gmail -d-o-t- com Best wishes: Andras Javor
