Betty: Kanocz - Vajan
I am searching for information on Kanocz family from Vajan. Janos Kanoc(z)from Vajan, Ung County accompanied my Uncle Alex Sabo to the US in 1921. Their destination was to Crescent Ohio to my grandfather's home. Peter Janocz lived in Crescent, Belmont County Ohio. Elizabeth Janocz was a Godmother to my Uncle Peter Sabo (Szabo).

alex kanocz: Re: Kanocz - Vajan
I don't know if I have information that can help you or not. I'm from a small town in Ohio. Fairport Harbor Ohio. As a child I can remember 2 John Kanocz that lived in the adjacent town. I don't know if they every lived in Crescent Ohio. One of the John Kanocz still has daughters that living in Painesville who might be of assistance. At that time in history, many immigrants moved to places like Crescent due to the jobs available in the coal industry. Sometimes they stayed for short times and moved back. Fairport Harbor had and still has a small community of Hungarians. This includes the Hungarian Reform Church on 611 Plum Street in Fairport Harbor. YOu might check with the church about historical documents that might be helpful. Reverand Megyesi is the current minister. This was the church that many protostant Hungarians in this part of ohio attended. The town also has the Hungarian Culture club that may have a list of past members that might be helpful.
