You did find the 94 KARABAs that came thru Ellis Island. www.ellisislandrecords.org
I see most of them coming from Drahove/Drahovce/Drahovre/Drahocz/Drohoc/Dzatocz, Nyitra megye, Hungary now Drahovce, Nitra region, Slovak Republic
An ALL site for research in Slovakia:

Zlatica : Re: Karaba
Carlene

Tidbits about the surname:
In 1990 census of names there were 21 KARABAs in Poland.
www.herby.com.pl/herby in Polish and only distribution.
CZ's phone book is listing few KARABA and KARABOVA (ova a female ending) http://phone.quick.cz
A first name translation:
http://topolcsanyi.alphalink.com.au/names
KARABA Verona was traveling with her children Janos and Josef to Mr. KARABA Pechu(Peter?) Mognach/Mognah/Moguah, Wisc; left parents in Drahocz
She was traveling with other ladies from Drahocz named REBRO. That surname still in Drahovce's phone book.
Do look in www.helenezx.homestead.com Slovak Pride as KARABA is listed by several descendants with whom you can connect. Possible that Mr. Fronzek who posts on http://genfoforum.com Poland, Slovak Republic, Austria, Russia is one of the descendants. I would recommend a post on http://genforum.com
The LDS-Mormons site is not listing church records of Drahovce. They were filmed but slowly being put into the Family History Center.
Drahovce, Nitra region, SK other names: Drahocz, Drachowetz, Drahowcze, Drahowce, Drahoc, Vagdebrod; Vogyerad is Voderady now part of Drahovce.

Zlatica : Re: Your welcome
Carlene

Your welcome. You have all the information at your fingertips so now all you need is to put it together in a form of a family tree.
I would suggest that you post on Slovak Republic's Genforum board. Too many KARABAs in Drahovce's phone book to mail out a letter of inquiry. Maybe we can narrow down another way.

karabad: Re: looking for my karaba realtives
Genealogy is a long journy with it's ups and downs. A Genealoist is bound to make sure he or she has all of the facts in order. It is important to not fabricate or add on what sounds good, but what is fact and the truth. A family heritage is a precious thing and will be handed down for generations. So a true genealogist pledges to make sure the facts are given correctly in respect to the deceased and the living. And last but not least Genealogy is not for personal gain, but a gift to be shared by all generations. Remember this and your work will have meaning.

Zlatica : Re: karaba
Cindy

We know that KARABA ancestor was from Drahovce. Unfortunately, the church records are not yet in LDS-Mormons (Family History Center). We know that KARABA list in Drahovce's phone book. Surname HAS^KO list in Piestany (area code/UTO 033) which is not far from Drahovce.
Your ancestor Maria KUSNYR (KUSNIR) do you know where she was born? KUS^NIR in area code/UTO 033 in Surovce, which is a way South from Drahovce, closer to town of Trnava. Was your Maria KUSNYR naturalized citizen? Did she have social security numbers? Those two documents should have her place of birth and parents names. Have you located her state marriage license or church marriage document? Those two document too should have her parents names.
