You can not go over the big pond with the research unless you have located a precise place of birth of your ancestor who came from "old country". Do you know it?

EAGLE RTP: Re: Name Search
I am looking for information for Karabinus in the US also. My people are in New York and California. Where are yours? I have a 1910, 1920, & 1930 US Census for the immigrants in Yonker, Westchester, New York. Some of their children moved to California after World War II.

I know my grandfather was based in California during WWII in which my grandmother joined him there. After the war they moved back to NJ. I have imigration papers for my great grandparents that I found are readily available on line.

EAGLERTP: Re: Name Search
I show 2 Papa's in Hungary in my gazetteer:
1. Papa in Somogy/Csurgo (listed with Csurgo)
2. Papa in Vesprem, with with Catholics, Lutherans, Reformed Protestants, and Jews that attended church in Papa.
This isn't the best gazetteer, but this second town looks like a pretty big city, with about 15000 residents in 1877.
Have you found any records within Hungary for your family? Send me her maiden name and date of birth (as specific as you've got) and I can check the records at the LDS family history Library in Salt Lake for you, just to determine which of these cities it is.
