I have a 1910, 1920, & 1930 US Census for the immigrants in Yonker, Westchester, New York. Papa in Vesprem, with with Catholics, Lutherans, Reformed Protestants, and Jews that attended church in Papa. This isn't the best gazetteer, but this second town looks like a pretty big city, with about 15000 residents in 1877. Have you found any records within Hungary for your family? The name is Steven Karabinus but I have found the village where they came from and the name is spelled Karabinyos. 	Zlatica : Re: Karabinyos Cathy What is the name of the village? KARABINYOSs in www.ellisislandrecords.org from Sztankohormany, Hernadtafolcza, Szinye, Istvanvagas,Flosva and Kosoa. The surname could have evolved thru the years. Possible the priest was not sure how to spell it.
