| MSchepak: Kardos Family History | Below is some of the oral history I have on the Kardos side of the family. I haven't been able to verify this information from any other source. I am new to geneology. If the information below is of any help please let me know.
My mother's grandfather's surname is Kardos. I know no current relatives on this side of my family.
The earliest Kardos I know of on this side is Sentvany Zelenkay Kovany Von Leopold Kardos who was awarded a title from Joseph II, the son of Maria Theresa. Sentvany, Zelenkay, and Kovany are villages in Hungary. Our history said he lived to 113 years old. When he was 105 he moved to Korpana, which I beleive is in Slovakia, into a house that was built in 1414.
He had two sons, Samuel and Lypot, or Leopold.
Samuel had a son Samuel who became a baron and was Secretary of War for Hungary under Franz Joseph. Samuel, the son of Samuel, had two sons and a daughter. Samuel and his two sons died in WWI.
Lypot Kardos married Lena Barok who is said to have lived to over 100. They had six children, Ignaczy, Mark Elias, Samuel, Sandor and Hanna. Mark inherited the 1414 house which is said to be a beer parlor. Sandor was a medical doctor who had a son that was an editor of the largest newspaper in Hungary.
Ignacz was my great grandfather. Ignacz Kardos was a mathematics professor who had a business college in Kaposvar, Hungary. Later they moved to Budapest . He started the social security system in Hungary in 1906.Ignacz Kardos married Julia Ladony and had three daughters Irene, Charlotte and Lydia. Lydia was my grandmother.
