We remember that we meet the artist, Laslo Kohanecz in 1987, at the restaurant THE PELICAN, in Bocca Raton, Florida. At this moment he told us that a museum of Washington had bought a big part of his collection, and He was going to California. But apparently he had change his mind and it is since that moment that his phone number disappear. Since we do not know where to ask for him.

I am working on finding Laszlo. I am awaiting a call on this but it appears that he moved back to Hungary about a year ago.

The value would be based upon size and condition. My guess is that it is worth around $1000. I have purchased three portraits for $3000. Are you interested in selling it?

Very good news. Yes, please Monica, we would like to know:
1-If he is always painting,
2-Where we can find his works, (we are from Canada)
3-Where we can find the quotes( prices of his works).
Tell him we miss him a very big lot; Very often we thing and talk of him ; we have a photo of him and his wife, in front of the restorant : The Pelican , in Boca Raton Florida, the year he sold his collection to a museum of Washington, but I do not remember which museum.I do not know if he will remember, He paint myself by a photo, in Hollywood, he did iT ay his home because he was sick with a very bad cold, but He did it the same. It was around years 80' If You give me your E-Mail address, I can send to you the scan of it, so he will remember seeing it.
We would appreciate a lot an answer and excuse us for this long letter, but it is such good souvenirs.

Monika;If you meet Laszlo please tell him that Peter and Diane Mineo have been looking for him for more than 10 years. I hope he remembers us. We purchased the Gypsy Violinist painted in 1979 and the Old Man and the Boy (fishing). If he does not remember us please tell him we are the people that gave him the book from the National Gallery of Art. We still have the lovely note he wrote us. The only piece I would be interested in selling is the seascape. It shows intricate waves hitting the surf with rocks. The light that seems to emminate from the piece is incredible. The others I have are all "head" paintings... A gaucho, an Alaskan Malamute and a Gypsy. I have a fondness for the heads. Framed, the piece is 33x30 and is currently on my wall. I am also looking for a painting he did of my girlfriend Judy at the Hollywood Mall in the 80's. She had long straight dark hair and looks a little like a gypsy herself. I know her husband would love to purchase it for her if it could be found.

I am interested in finding a painting he did of my girlfriend Judy in the Hollywood Mall in the 80's. She worked in the mall and posed for him but couldn't afford to buy it! She had long stragit dark hair and looks a little like a gypsy herself! I'm sure her husband would love to purchase it for her now!

OLDPERSON2: LAZLO

Have several pieces done by Lazlo. One is a 3-D of a Monk drinking wine in a wine cellar. I believe it to be one of his first when he was trying to do 3-D. Also have a signed print of "Gypsie Camp". These were giving to my by Lazlo several years ago when he was working in his studio in Punta Gorda, Florida on Dr. Zac's farm. Would like any info on what these might be worth.

I have two (2) painting of Laszlo Kohanecz. One (1) is 16X20 of an old Captain with a white beard with a cap lighting a pipe which lights up his whole face and has a ship on the right side and on the left it has a lighthouse. Beautiful picture. Two (2) is 23.1/2 X 17.1/2 of a Log cabin in a wooden area a bridge over a pond with a oldman with a cane waiting for a child on the bridge and a woman walking down a road holding a litle girls hand walking to the pond and a child by the pond fishing. It measures 24x30 and is entitled "Musician" It is beautifully framed and pictures a gypsy violinist and a smal child holding out a hat in front of him. Beautiful shading and expression on faces. have had a painting of two sea captains --one smoking his pipe and the other reading a newspaper.size about 40 x 32......window in background has a sailing schooner sailing by.....would love to have info on this painting and would be interested in contacting artist wherever he may be....read prior posts ..still seems to be mystery about his location.......

Robert Davenport: Painting

I have 2 paintings that my dad bought in Germany in 1962.
The artist name is M Laszro. It is a Gypsy man and a Gypsy woman and I am trying to find out what ever I can about the painter.So far I have been told that the painter is from Hungary but that is all I know at this time.

Don't know much about him except he use to show his paintings at the Chicago Gold Coast Art Fair back in the'70's; that's where my mother commissioned him to do a landscape painting for her. He was living in FL, but now no one seems to know his whereabouts. Some say he went back home to Hungary, another said he's doing paintings at the Vatican. The mystery continues. I've tried doing a search for him, but turned up nothing. Good luck - let us know if you find out something.
