I was born in the in the United States in 1954. My father's name was Ernest Komonyi and my grandfather was Charles. My grandparents (Charles and Susan) arrived here in the early 1900s. When in Hungary, they lived very close to the Austian-Hungarian border. I am pictured here with my wife, Rosemary.

You need to locate a name of a town in order to proceed with the research.

17 KOMONYIs passed thru Ellis Island to America and most of them were from a town named Kisdobrony.
The town of Kisdobrony was in Bereg megye and at present in Ukraine.

Dear Kevin,
I am also searching for Komonyis on this website.
My mother's father was a László Komonyi - his father had the same name and his grandfather was Lajos.
László No. 1(1862 Nagykõrös), No. 2 (1893. Veresegyháza) - I know about relatives later but not much more about these generations. Lajos's wife was Eszter Keresztúri, László No. 1 was married to Piroska Obernyik.

At present I have three cousins named Komonyi and only one nephew carries the name.
Almost all of us live in Hungary.
Perhaps we can find a link.
