kopcso: Kopcso/Koza
I am looking for information on Frank and Rozalia(Koza) Kopcso who lived in Bridgeport, CT. Frank, my Grandfather, had two brothers, John and James. Frank immigrated in 1891 at the age of eleven. I do not know who he came with or where he went to. John and James came later, 1998 or later. Cannot find EI info on any of them. James lived in PA for a while and back to CT. I think they had an uncle here, I know they had cousins here, in CT and NE (Kopcho) but I cannot connect anyone. Their parents were John and Mary (Brandics) They also had Stefurak cousins I know nothing of my Gradmother, Rozalia excpt her parents, Josef and Mary Turcsanyi.
Thank you for any help, Nancy

Nancy
What was language of your ancestors? The surnames seem Slavic.
KOPCSO in Hungarian; KOPC^O in Slovak;
BRANDICS in Hungarian; BRANDIC^ in Slovak
In Slovak Republic's phone book BRANDIC^, S^TEFURAK/STEFURAK, KOPC^O, TURC^ANY, TURC^ANYI, and KOZA.

John would have come thru a port as Janos; Frank as Ferenc(z); Mary as Maria. Someplace in the US documents should be a place of birth. Can not proceed without knowing where they were born.

Jafety: Re: Kopcso/Koza
I know a Kopcso family living in Edeleny, Borsod county, Hungary. They were the neighbours of my grandparents. A part of my family also left for America between 1890 and 1910 as many did from Edeleny. Cant you find them in the Ellis Island Records?
If you are interested in Kopcso geneological data from Edeleny, I know an American researcher who has access to the Archives and can do a research for you (not free, of course). You can contact me in e-mail (I will answer around 24th Aug).
