| ellie: KOSZTKA Zuza |
In November1902, Zuza KOSZTKA at age 26, Magyar, left Berencs, Retkozberencs (Szabolcs) -or- from Berencs (Nyitra), Hungary (now: Branc (Nitra okres) (Nitriansky kraj, after Slovakia annexation). From the port of Bremen, aboard the ss Cassel, she came to her cousin in Passaic, New Jersey. If I, indeed, have the correct ship -- Zuza arrived with my g-mother.
My g-mother ELSIE IGNATKO was born in Mándok (Szabolcs, old district of Tisza) on 8 May 1887. She MAY have had a brother. Her parents MAY have been JOHN IGNACZ and Elizabeth GAROY, GARAI. They MAY have owned a sauerkraut factory near Budapest.
My g-mother was a 'chambermaid' in a Budapest palace when she emigrated at the age of 15 years.
I do not know the accurate spelling of her Family names. I dearly want to learn of her forefathers and living Family still in Hungary. Here is my web search, along with a photo of g-ma and g-pa in NYC.
