Szeretném, hogy akit szintén érdekel a családfánk, származásunk, lépjen velem kapcsolatba a gergkottra -a-t- axelero -d-o-t- hu e-mail címen, ugyanis sajnos akármilyen erőbedobással is nyomozok, csak hézagos információkhoz jutok. Sorry Gergo, not researching KOTTRA just want to help.

2 KOTTRAs passed thru Ellis Island to America. A mother and child were from Budapest.

9 Kottras are listed in Social Security Death Index.
http://ssdi.rootsweb.com Maybe some of them your ancestor or a distant relative.
USA White Pages are listing the surname Kottra. Another possible distant relatives.

My name is John Kottra. My grandfather's name was Geza Kottra. He came from Budapest about 1900 with his wife Eva. They had 7 sons and 1 daughter. I am a physician. I visited Budapest in 1996 and noted about 10 Kottras in the telephone book. Kottra is an very unusual name in the USA. I am interested in tracking the family history. I would be happy to correspond.

Not related to KOTTRA. Could there be some connection with the surname KOTRA as there were 20 that passed thru Ellis Island.

Hello Gergő!

Én egy győri Kottra vagyok és elég sokat tudok az őseimről.
Az én Kottra őseim Ebedről származnak, ez Esztergommal szemben lévő ma szlovákiában lévő helység. És érdekes, hogy van egy 18 éves fiam Gergő. Van egy GenoPro nevű program, amibe sok munkával felvettük a családtagokat, és a számunkra ismert adatokat. Ha érdekel ezt elküldöm neked, hátha valahol rátalálsz egy ősődre nagyszülő, déd, stb.
Nagyapámat megtaláltam itt a Radixon. Az ő neve: Kotra János
még egy t-vel irva. Viszont is érdekel, ha neked is van információd.

Kedves Kottra úr!

Nagyon megörültem a levelének, Gergőnek pedig különösen. Üdvözli Gergő. Természetesen én is utánanéztem a családfának, s ha adna egy e-mail címet, el is küldeném az adatokat, amint időm jut rá. Ugyanis a Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem jogi karára járok, s most jön a vizsgaidőszakom, ezért mindenre kevés időm jut. Természetesen, ha ad egy e-mail címet, elküldöm a kutatásaim erdményét. A családfa élén Kottra János áll, a család Szlovákiából származik, Libád ill. Kőhídgyarmat községekből. A többit majd e-mailben küldöm. (családfa, fotók...)

Köszönöm, hogy válaszolt fórumindító levelemre, s amint lehet, küldöm Önnek az anyagokat. Engem is érdekel az Ön által gyűjtött információ.

Dear Mr. Kottra,

I am happy that you've answered my letter. If you give me your e-mail address, I'll send you my family tree: there is a person, one of the brothers of my grandpa's father with unknown name, because he leaved Hungary before First World War. Maybe he could be Geza Kottra, but I am not sure. If you can give me more information of Geza (his father's name, his sons and daughters name...), I would be very happy.

I am very happy that there are Kottras in Alaska!

Look up the story of Gyula Kottra teacher from Transylvania.Tha place to look for is Enyed ( today is Aiud), Kőszegremete( Remetea-Oasulni).It is north of Kolozsvár(Cluj).200km perhaps.
Also look for Felejud name as a place. Could be where the family is originated from before escaping from the romanian horror.

Kottra Annamaria vagyok, Erdelyben elek, Szatmarnemetiben -Satu Mare-( Szatmar megye = judetul Satu Mare. Jelenleg a Kolozsvar-i kozigazgatasi szak IV-ed eves hallgatoja vagyok. Aprilis 21-ken ezen a weboldalon olvashattunk keresedrol, miszerint keresed rokonaid,illetve a Kottra nevueket.
Edesapam Kottra Gyula(szuletett 1952), annak testvere Kottra Antal(1954).
Nagyapam Kottra Gyula volt(1911-Csorna/Magyarorszag-.A nagyapam edesapja Kottra Antal. Annyit tudunk, hogy az I. Vilaghaboruban esett el Olaszorszagban. Tobb testvere volt(kb.6 vagy 11?) akik alitolag mind kivandoroltak Amerikaba. A csalad Magyarorszagon elt, a nagyapam edesapja egy erdelyi(Nagyszalonta-i)lanyt vett felesegul, akivel az I. Vilaghaboru kitoreseig Magyarorszagon eltek.Miutan o meghalt a haboruban, felesege a 3 gyerekkel visszajott Szalontara.Az elso gyermek (fiu) fiatalon halt meg, a masodik Erzsebet(Budapestre kerul vissza , oda ment ferjhez--Juhasz Albertne lesz a neve-) a harmadik, azaz a nagyapam pedig itt marad Erdelyben. Tanitokent Koszegremeten( Remetea Oas), Avasujvarosban ( Oasu Nou) -ezek szatmar megyei kozsegek- is megfordult felesegevel.
Kb.1958-tol Szatmarnemetiben telepedtek le es itt eltek(nagyanyam meg most is el)
A Kottra nev tovabbszallt, nagybatyamnak 3 fia lett(Antal,Csaba, Istvan). Edesapamnak 2 lanya lett, en es a hugom Agnes.
Remelem tuvabb tudtalak segiteni a kutatomunkadban. Ha meg megtudsz dolgokat kerlek ertesits minket is.
