Zlatica : Re: Hi
Out of 18 KOTYUKs that passed thru Ellis Island, 5 of them were Istvans. Check even the manifests for the spelling KATYUK,KOTIUK,and KOTUK.
You need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research.

One of the Istvans was from Nagyrat. That village is now in Ukraine.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :

Her parents were John Mitro and Elizabeth Fedich. My grandfather was Frank Kotyuk (1900-1964) who had had three brothers Andrew (b1890), Alex, and Steve (b1893) as well as two sisters Elizabeth and Julia (1892). Michael,

you need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research. Where have you looked? Was your ancestor naturalized citizen or had social security numbers? Those papers would provide usefull information.
http://ssdi.rootsweb.com
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
http://vivisimo.com

Gizella and Frank had social security numbers. The SS-5Form cost went up from $7 to $27, so try to locate the information / name of a town from other source.

Szatványi: Re: Need some help
A Kótyuk család Kárpátaljáról származik. Szolyván is lakott egy Kótyuk nevű erdész. Ezen kivül semmi közelebbit nem tudok.

Tyarel: Re: Need some help

Kotyuk: Re: Kotyuk
I have obtained some information on my grandparents. Frank Kotyuk (1900-1964) was born in Galoc or Galocs, Solvakia. His social security information states "Czechoslovakia formerly Austria-Hungary". I would like to obtain a birth certificate of Frank, his brother Andrew Kotyuk (1890- 1936) born in Dobaruska Czechoslovakia, brother Alexander Kotyuk (1907-1969) born in Galoc, brother Steve Kotyuk born 1898, sister Elizabeth (1902-1959) and sister Julia Kotyuk Grega born in Galoc 1896. I also need information on their parents Andrew Kotyuk (1874-1940) and Julia Toth (1876-1937).
