Janice Oakley: KOVACSIK IN KORMEND
I am trying to contact any living descendants of John and Ann KOVACSIK of Kormend. They lived in Kormend in the late 1800's and early 1900's. John was a cabinet maker and operated a funeral home.
Their son, John, moved to the United States in 1914 and settled in the Cleveland and Oberlin area of Ohio.
I am the granddaughter of this son John and would love to get in touch with any relatives in Hungary.

Janice Oakley: Re: KOVACSIK IN KORMEND
All the documents I have, including the family Bible and the passport, give the name as Kovacsik. Why do you think Kovalcsik?

it is only a guess. both names exist in Hungary. The Kovacsik is less common than the Kovalcsik. For my ears the Kovalcsik sounds more obvious. There were many misspelled names at arrivals. The MATAV phone book can help you.I knew Kovalcsik's from the area you mentioned.

dear Janice!
No, i'm not living in Kormend, i'm living in Göd, near to Budapest. It's a very nice little town near the beautiful river, the Duna. My relatives also livin' on Dunakeszi(that's near to Bp too) and also lives in Los Angeles, California.
Your grandpa was KOVACSIK or KOVÁCSIK? here are some KOVÁCSIK too. we are KOVACSIK's. Only three or four family right here in Hungary. My grandpa's father was a medical equipment engeener on the 1920's. They's came from ÜLLŐ to Göd for work. My grandpa had 9 brothers and 2 sisters. His two sisters lives in Göd and in Calif. Maria is 67 and Klara is 74 years old. I'm a youngest and the last boy Kovacsik in our family. I'm 24 now. My father Tamas has a brother Laszlo. He is 54 now. Thats all.

Janice Oakley: Re: 2 Janice
Hello Tomasito,
From looking over what documents and letters I have, I believe the name to be Kovacsik without the little thingy over the A. My grandfather and his brother are the only two from the family to come to America. There were nine children in all and I believe most stayed in Kormend. I know the name Laszlo as my father was Christened that, but used the name Louis here. No, I have never been to Hungary. I have seen pictures on the Internet of Kormend and am surprised that the countryside looks very much like northern Ohio where I live. You write English very well. Why did you learn it? Have you been to America?

hzoleee: Re: KOVACSIK IN KORMEND
Hi,
my name is Herczeg Zoltán (23) and I am leaving in Hungary, in Körmend. This is a very interesting web side, I am sorry that I had founded it just now and I could read about your search just now. (Sorry I am not too perfect in english.) Well, the family KOVÁTSIK (pronounce in the hungarian language is: KOVÁCSIK),(the two Kovátsik brothers and their familis) is leaving even nowadays in Körmend. And you will not believe it: they are engaged in tombstone and coffins making (as far as I know they are eventually monumental masons and cabinet makers)and organizing funerals. Their enterprise is widely known in the city. So, I am not sure that this Kovátsik's are the descendants of those you alluded or this is just a sameness of the names but it is like enough that they are relatives. I am excited, I hope I am the first telling you about it. If you have got any question please write me: hzoleee -a-t- freemail -d-o-t- hu or hzoleee@hotmail.com or hzoleee@mailbox.hu
My father and my grandmother knows more about these names and about the family. I am learning in the capital so I will be able to do telling more about it on saturday. Till then see the following web adress (that is the enterprise I am talking about):
http://www.kormend.hu/index.php?ugras=cegtar&cegleso=77

Could you help me? I am searching too. The relatives of my grandmother (her name: FEHÉR GIZELLA) migrated to the USA to Florida from PUSZTAMONOSTOR (it is the name of the village)in 1956. The first attempt of their migrating was unsuccessful. So they came to jail, the woman was delivered of a boy in there. The name of the family (it was a family with a young boy, approximately 6 years old)was ZAHORACK or ZAHORÁK as far as I now but I can ask it exactly.
It is enough if you write me some web side adress where I can search.

Thanks: Zoli
