csberry: Kristofek
Hi,

I am researching my Kristofek ancestors. George and Katarina Kristofek arrived in New York with 2 young children on June 8, 1888. They purchased a farm in Westmoreland County, PA in 1894 and had 6 children.
- John stayed on the family farm, married Annie Swets and raised 12 children,
- George, my great grandfather, moved his young family to Chicago in about 1906,
- Joseph must have died as a young child,
- Mary married Joseph (Wassily) Shaffern and they had 7 children. Joseph died in the early 1920s and Mary moved to Chicago with her children,
- Anna married Frank Kolish and they had 5 children. Frank died in 1925 and Anna moved her family to Cleveland,
Zophia (Sophie) married Walter Konjura and had 7 children. They all moved to Cleveland in the early 1920s.

I would like to exchange information if this sounds like part of your family.

All the best,
Chris

37 KRISTOFEKs thru Ellis Island. www.ellisislandrecords.org
Maybe you can find other family members coming to America. You need to have a precise place of birth to proceed with the research. What was language spoken by your ancestors?
In Poland KRISTOFEK, KRYSZTOFEK,
In Slovak KRISTOFEK.
In Hungary: KRISTOFEK

Few websites for research:
www.iabsi.com/gen/public
www.tccweb.org
www.cisarik.com
www.rootsweb.com/~polwgw/index.html
www.halgal.com
Judging by the SK's phone book www.zoznamst.sk your KRISTOFEKs could be from Bardejov, Poprad, Spisska Sobota.
Looking at the EI manifest most of the KRISTOFEKs were from Uj-bela/Ujbella, Szepes megye, Hungary http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 now Nowa Biala, Poland
www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm
http://mapa.szukacz.pl Nowa Biala a village with 1300 inhabitants in Malopolskie wojewodztwo.
