Zlatica: Re: I am the first to post.
8 KUNETZs and 16 KUNECs passed thru Ellis Island. You will need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research.

The name KUNEC lists in Slovak Republic's phone book.

Hi,

I am interested... Check this picture out: this is a postal from the beginning of the 20th century. You can see a vacation house of the Kunetz family. I saw it a few weeks ago: now it is a twilight home..

Hi,

Subotica was the town where our ancestors lived. It was a very rich and famous family. There happened something with them - before the 2nd WW -, because all member of the KUNETZ family leaved Subotica. Do you know when passed thru Ellis Island the 8 KUNETZs?

Thanks!

Agui Ahumada: Re: I am the first to post.
My grand-mother was Aranka Kunetz, born in 1881. Her father was Mor Kunetz born in 1841 & married to Betty Singer. My great grand-father was Gaspar Kunetz born in 1812 died in 1902. All were born in Subotica. Are we relatives?

TOM: Re: I am the first to post.
Hello Tom:
My name is Agnes Pallos but everybody calls me Agui. My father was Tibor Pallos . He emigrated with my mother in 1939 from Budapest to Bogota, Colombia where I and my sister Elli were born and have lived all our lives. His mother was Aranka Kunetz. She had eleven sisters & brothers and we have all the names of them and also some pictures.
If you want to tell me who your Kunetz grandparents were, then it is easier for us to keep looking to see how is the relationship between us.
Also please tell me where you live.
Best regards,
Agui

Agui,

a lot of thanks for your answer to Tom!!! Do you speak hungarian a bit? :) Tom is searching the roots of the KUNETZ family, as I do it too. This is not too easy..
I am sure, your fater's mother was born in Subotica. Do you know something about it?

Anyway, my wife is Agnes too. Everybody calls her Agi (Ági - in hungarian). You need to insert the letter "u" because of the spanish pronunciation, but the sonority is the same.. :)

I live in Budapest, Hungary.

Thanks again for your message!

Best regards,

Szabolcs

P. S. (for Tom too) Check this link: http://www.moravian-connection.com/master-p/i139.htm#5407
This web site is dedicated to the Moravian, Bohemian, German, Austrian & Czech families that settled in Texas between 1850 and 1900. Interesting... :)

Hi Eszti,

I am a Kunetz too (from Budapest), and I am definitely interested! Maybe all of us (You, Tom, Agi, Zlatica and me), together we are capable to draw a genealogical tree. My grandfateher was Laszlo, he did not want to told anything about our family, he was in dread of something, he never disclosed to his children and grandchildren that the Kunetz's were a jewish family. Unfortunately he died a few years ago. In my family nobody knows the history of us.
If you can help me with informations, it would be a great gift for me.

Besides of this I founded victims from our family among the Shoah Victims' names.

Best regards,
Szabolcs

Hi Szabolcs.
Among the numerous descendants of Kunetz Gaspar I've found one named Laszlo. He was the grandson of Mor (Gaspar's son). Laszlo's father was called Zsiga, and he (Laszlo) had a brother, Bela.

harold: Re: I am the first to post.
Hello, I am looking for information on my great-aunt Ella's first husband, a Mr. Kunetz. Ella was born Ella Loef/Löw in Holleschau, Moravia in 1883. She was married to Mr. Kunetz and lived in Agram (Zagreb)in the 1920's. That's all I know. Could you help me find this Mr. Kunetz? Many thanks. Harold Chipman in Zurich, Switzerland.

Hi Harold, I think, that the Kunetz you are looking for is Gustav Kunetz, a cousin of my late father. He died quite young, suddenly, of a heart attack. I know that he was married, had no children. He had a house in Zagreb in Kralja Zvonimira street.
Best regards

Thank you so much for the information, Estera. Indeed, my great-aunt Ella had no children with (probably Gustav) Kunetz. Do you have any dates of birth and/or death? Where did Gustav come from? Do you know if Gustav was Jewish? Ella was but she later converted to the Old Catholics when she married her second husband in the 1930's in Vienna. Would you be interested in a photo of Ella taken when she was married to Gustav, I believe? Best wishes, Harold

Hi Harold, Gustav's parents lived in Osijek, his Kunetz-grandparents in Subotica. They were Jewish. When I get back to Zagreb (I am in Canada now)I'll go to the cemetery and see the dates on Gustav's grave. Yes, it would be nice to have a photo of Ella.
Best regards

Harold: Re: I am the first to post.
Hi Estera, thanks so much for looking. I am so thrilled to be finding all this out. Was the spelling of his name on the grave Gustav or Gustave (as per Tom's genealogy)? Do you have a private email where I can send Ella's photo? The Vienna connection to Ella was interesting and quite prestigious as Ella's sister Jenka, my grandmother, was married to the famous industrialist and art collector Willibald Duschnitz (google to see his famous villa among others). All the best, Harold.

Harold: Re: Kunetz ancestry
Hello to all Kunetz descendants! I found some Kunetzes in Moravia in the 17th century: MARIANNA KUNETZ was born in 1687 in Gross Petersdorf and was the daughter of JACOB KUNETZ. I suspect the Kunetzes came from Moravia and later moved on to Hungary, maybe because of the Familianten Act in the 18th century. That fits as JOSEPH KUNETZ was born in 1780, probably in Subotica. Best regards to you all. Harold

Harold: Ignaz Kunetz
Hi there, descendants of the Kunetz family! There is an Ignaz Kunetz (no dates given) buried in the cemetery at Szeged, Hungary, group 47, row 14, grave 4. This could be the Ignaz Kunetz of Tom's tree - born 1848, died 1920, married to Emilie Krauss (1860-1938) and father of Bela, Gyula, Jósza, Ella and Paula. Has anybody any more information on this Ignaz? Best. Harold
