One, my czech father came ovwer to avoid the communists in '68, does not value his heritage and refuses to talk about it. 2. My hungarian grandfather died a year ago. I can ask my grandmother when I see her this year but she is still in czech. As for location, it is many times possible to trace heritage if the name is an unusual one. Leudar is certainly unusual over here but perhaps in Hungary it is more common. I will write and mention a location if and when I have one. Thanks for your help so far. Gus You know that you start the research with what you know : YOU and going backwards but it will be a long journey if you do not locate a name of a town. No Leudar only a LENDAR listed in Social Security Death Index. http://ssdi.rootsweb.com Located a Leudar(ova) in city of Olomouc's phone book. It sure is unusual name if no other listings thru CZ, SK, Austria, Germany. Sometimes being not so common name helps but in your case, I would say it does not. The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records of several European countries (not Czech Republic) but you need a name of a town to order the films.
