I am looking for information on the Lichtenberger family. The information that I have is Vendel (Vendal, Vendall), born to Janos Lichtenberger and Ava Karka. He was born on 10/20/1883 in Budapest and later immigrated to the United States. I would appreciate any information on Janos and Ava Karka. Unfortunately, do not have birth dates or marriage dates on any of them.

Egy adat a csanádi (Érsekcsanád) róm. kat. egyházközség keresztelési anyakönyvéből:

1799. aug. 4. Stegman Ilona. Szülei: S. Lőrinc és Horváth Katalin. Keresztszülő: Földi Ilona, Lichtenperger József felesége. Keresztelte: Róka András sükösdi káplán.

Más ilyen nevű személyt ebben az anyakönyvben nem találtam.

Hello Mimi,

I believe we are looking for the same person! Vendel Lichtenberger was my great-grandfather, born on 10/20/1883--but, I believe, in the village of Tes (part of Vezprem) before immigrating to Bridgeport Connecticut. He married Maria Kovacs in the States, and they raised four children--Mary (my grandmother), Steven, John, and William--in Lexington, MA.

I'd be very curious to hear your interest in and relation to this family history. Maybe we can share some leads?

Dear Caroline,
I have a picture of a baby in my family photo album that has your great-grandfather's exact address in Lexington on the back. I have a family tree that dates back to the 1820s but I don't remember having him there,although I'm not sure. It is a very old postcard and it was never meant to be sent I think.
I find it very interesting and I will check again our family tree, maybe there is a connection. The place (the region of Veszprém) is correct, my whole family originates from this part, all the way through Bakony.
