Lugossy

My name is Lugossy, Gabor - My father was Lugossy Sandor who moved to Germany during WWII and married my mother Marlis Lugossy. We resided in Duesseldorf. I am now living in the USA since 1981. Due to my father's death in 1984 I have lost contact to my family on the Lugossy side. If anybody reads this that thinks that we are related - please get in touch with me. Welcome to the club of lost relatives, My name is Ed Lugossy, my father moved to Canada in 1932 and settled in eastern Ontario. We have lost track of all our Hungarian relations as well. if you have any news that you feel will help us find our lost LUGOSSY'S please pass the info along I will intern for you.

Hi, my name is Marta Lugosi (oroginally Lugossy) and I am from Transylvania, from Nagyvarad. My father was Bela Lugosi (his surname was changed after 1945). He married my mother, Eva Banyai in 1948.

I know, my father had two brothers, Vince, died about 20 years ago and one brother died in 1945, before I was born.

I left Romania long time ago. Are we related?

Jó napot, jó estét kívánok minden kedves Lugossynak!
Én Budapestről jelentkezem, de Szolnokon születtem, Lugossy Gabriella vagyok. Sajnos az apámmal egy éves koromban megszakadt a kapcsolatom, szüleim elváltak, így őt nem ismertem, csak édesanyám elmeséléséből. Amit tudok a Lugossy ágról: Szolnokon élnek/éltek, apám Ferenc, van talán két testvére, az egyik Csongor. Csongor felesége Szolnokon egy gyógyszertárban dolgozik. Apám ismereteim szerint utoljára Dunaújvárosban élt, újra nősült, született egy lánya. Telefonkönyvben, interneten keresgéltem már többször, de sikertelenül. Esetleg ha az itt olvasgatók tudnak róla valamit, megköszönöm az információt.

Janos: Lugossy / Lugassy data

Dear Ed,
The Lugossy / Lugassy families looks to have reffers in Hungarian genealogical books. It would be usefull to know more about your ancetors. Have you traced your family tree?
Below you have some of the data I found:

Lugossy (from Gyéres) His nobility dated May 1, 1610.
Lugossy (from Hosszuaszó) Nobility dated December 18, 1610.
Lugosi (from Ujtorda - Transylvania) On Agust 25, 1619 Mihaly Lugosi got the leter with coat of arm
Lugossi (from Sass) Their letter with coat of arm is dated August 22, 1628.
Istvan Lugossy won a letter with coat of arm on September 20 1634. (Archieves of Szatmar County)
Lugossy (from Magyarpeterd) - no descendants
Lugosi (from Szászváros, alias Pápai) family from Torda County (Transylvania)
Lugossy - At the census of noble families of Bihar County from 1754/55, were living Mihály and Miklós Lugossy.
Ferencz Lugosi - his coat of arm from 1687 is kept in Teleki Bibliotech of Marosvasarhely (Transylvania)
And here you have a longer description in Hungarian, maybe you will recognize at least some names. The attached coat of arm belong to this also:

Lugassy (Lugossy). A címereslevelet L. Tamás (felesége: Török Agatha), Menyhért és fia: János nyerték. 1637. okt. 30. (Eredeti nemeslevél letétben a debreceni kollégium nagykönyvtárában.) E család egyik leszármazottja
Mihály (felesége: Sebõ (Zsebõ) Mária. Gyermekei: József; János; Péter; Ferenc; (két lány); és Mihály;
János (szül. 1746. I. 30. † 1789. I. 4.) felesége: Gerendási Mária (sz. Szabolcs, 1760. I. 15. † P. Ladány, 1811. I. 6.). Gyermekei: József; János; Mária; Gábor;
József (sz. P. Ladány, 1779. aug., † F. Bánya, 1853.), felsõbányai lelkész, esperes. Felesége (esk. 1809. III. 5.) Belényesi Mária (sz. Nagybánya, 1785. IV. 24.); Gyermekeik: János; József (akad. tanár Debrecenben, orientálista); Julianna (Géresi László viski lelkész felesége); Katalin; Péter; Ferenc; Mária (Széles Endre szinérváraljai lelkész felesége) és Sarolta.

On this last arm of Lugossy's are figured some priests and teachers from Debrecen University.

However are the Lugosi and Gös/Gözsi/Gösi part of the same family clan?

The Gös family came from a small village called Gösfa in now Zala county .

Dankó: Lugossy?

My name is Gyula Dankó and my mother name is Klára Lugossy. I do not know any relationship between your family and mine. But I know that the Lugossy name is protected by law so it was not allowd to any name changing to this form. I would be interested any information about your ascendants. If you would ask I could send you my family tree (containing the Lugossy part) in GENOPRO format.

Olvastam a Lugossyakkal kapcsolatos leírásban: "Széles Endre szinérváraljai lelkész felesége". Ezzel kapcsolatban a következõket tudom:
Az ükapám 1820-ban született Lugosy Dániel néven Szinérváralján. Foglalkozása nemes fazekas volt (ez nem tudom mit jelent?). Felesége: Salándek Júlianna (1820-1906). Szülei: apja Lugosy István (Nemes Lugosi v. Csengeri Lugosy István val.: református, lak.: Színérváralja), anyja Nagy Zsuzsanna. Fia: Lugossy Dániel református lelkész (val.: református szül.: Színérváralján 1845 november 15., lak.: Nagyhódos, özvegyülten vette el Elek Matildot feleségül).

Thank you for reply, Yes I would like to have a record of the Lugossy side of your family.
My Father imigrated to Canada in the 1930's, He was married in Hungary and left a family there. I do know I had a 1/2 Sister in Hungary and she had a Family.
My Father had two Brother's they all came to Canada about the same time Arpad and Steve my Fathers name was Jano's.
It is impossible to trace any records here in Canada.
