We recently found my grandfather's sisters birth certificate from Mariapocs, Hungary. Our name is now Melchiskey, but we've always known the name was changed in the US. Now we know that our family name was Malcsitzky. If anyone has any information to share on our family, it would be great. best.....steve

The spelling MALC'ICKY shows up in Slovak Republic's phone book.

Just for an information, the name Malcicky (Malczitsky) is surely of Slovak origin. It seems the bearer comes from the village Malcice. Malcicky means "the man from Malcice" equivalent of German "von Malcice". Originally, as it is in German, that names shows somebody of noble origin (but it is not a rule, of course).

We did not dig in deep so far regards to the family history.

Helló!
Tudomásom szerint a néhai Apámnak (Lászlő) volt egy István nevű testvére, amolyan "fekete bárány" volt az 50-es években.
A saját nevét is megváltoztatta a politikai helyzet miatt.
