flyer181: Re: marksteiner
I am going there the end of January and was hoping to make contact with some relatives. My great grandfathers name was Tony Martin Marksteiner. He was married to Barbara (Tiebor) He came to the US in 1907. He lived the rest of his life in Bloomington, Illinois. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Csaba1981: Re: marksteiner
Hi Al!

My grandfather, Ferenc Marksteiner war born in Gyulavári, it is very close to Szent Anna. He said that many of hes relatives were emigrated to the USA. Marksteiner is a very rare name in Hungary, and most of them are still in the same region, were my grandfather was born. So i think they are all our relatives. Maybe if you can send a family tree, i can show it to my grandfather. My e-mail address is: csaba81 -a-t- hotmail -d-o-t- com

Regards: Csaba

Ps: Tony Martin Marksteiner: Marksteiner Márton Antal?

treynolds: Re: marksteiner
I am one of your relatives. Anton (Tony) and Barbara Marksteiner of Bloomington, Ill are my grandparents. You may already know this but a couple of my aunts have visited the old country and met relatives. In any case I would be interested to hear about anything you have learned. Please Email me directly at treynolds at saintmail dot net. Good luck.

Hi,
My grandfather, Janos Marksteiner was born in 1916 in Arad (formal Hungarian city) today it belongs to Romania. His father was emigrated to the US when my grandfather was about 6-8 years old (~in 1922-1924).
Since he left the country the family didn't hear about him anymore but I assume that he married again in the States. If anyone knows about his roots from Arad (Hungary / Romania) with the name of Marksteiner, please contact me.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi Magdalena,
I am Peter Kovacs from Hungary. My grandfather Janos Marksteiner was born in Arad in 1906. His father emigrated to the States in ~1912-1916. I assume that he founded family in the States since he was pretty young when he left Arad.
Please let me know if You have information about Your parents / grandparents which could be interesting for me to track my great grandfather's family.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Sorry, correction to my previous message; My grandfather Janos Marksteiner was born in Arad in 1916 and not in 1906. His father emigrated to the States in ~1922-1926 and not in 1912-1916 as I posted before."

korallenriff: Josef & Cecilie Marksteiner
I'm looking for information about the roots of Josef Marksteiner (born 1866 in Pankota) and his wife Cecilie (born 1874 in Pankota). We assume - based on US census records) that both their parents came from Sankt Anna. Josef and Cecilie emigrated to the US around 1906 with their 3 children Josef, Anton and Johann.
