stephainex11: Márs Family

I am researching the Márs family.

The one Márs family lived in Vargede now Hodejov Slovakia between 1790-1853.
Katalin Márs married my gggranfather Andras Árvai.
I wrote to the Priest in Hodejov for any information, 2 weeks ago.
I can`t find anything in FHL. Gemer has not been completed with all the filming yet.
I am trying to find out their birth dates.
Andras and Katalin`s tombstone in Licince is very worn and you cannot read any dates and,the priest does not have any records.
Once we get their dates, we will find everything else.

It is possible that the Priest in Hodejov might not be able to give you that information if the records are in the appropriate archive.

The LDS-Mormons have filmed the whole Slovakia it just that they did not released the films into the Family History Center.

Surname ARVAI lists in Rimavska Sobota's phone book.

Thank you for all the great information. I took your advise that you gave someome else 2 years ago and wrote to 20 Arvai`s in that area.I recieve one reply back. No connction.
When do you think they will release the filming to the Family History Center.
If Hodejov is like Licince then I am afraid that you are right and he won`t have them.Maybe he might check the registy there for me.
I enjoy reading all your posts from differant sites. People like your self are so kind to help others.

Thank you for appreciating my help.
It is a bit unusual that you sent out 20 letters and only one reply and then no connection? Wow. Something is not right. It is possible that some did not receive your letter. Does happen. Another possibility that the others did not have a family tree going back as you have and thus did not want to look " ? " so they chose not to reply. There are people on both sides of the ocean that are very much into genealogy and then there are some who are not.

You could hire a researcher to do research for you, send a request to the archive or wait about year or two for the films. Keep checking in the LDS site, they just might surprise us all.
