What you have? You know that you need to backtrack from yourself locating information on your parents, their parents, their parents, etc. to find a place of birth on the ancestor that was born in "old country".

What language was spoken by your ancestors?
Was he/she naturalized citizen?
Had social security numbers? http://ssdi.rootsweb.com
Family went to family in those old days so possible that one of the MOCSANs that did come thru EI could be a distant relative.
