Deborah Dzurnik Halley: NIZSNIK
Looking for information on Maria Nisznik (Niznik) born Podvilk about 1873. She married Adalbert Kurzeja in Budapest in 1897. They had 3 children. They came to USA, first to Michigan, then to Chicago, Illinois, USA. Adalbert died 1917 and Maria then married Janos Dutta.

How do you know that Maria married Adalbert KURZEJA in Budapest? They sure were far from home.
If you look at KURZEJAs that came thru Ellis Island, none were from Budapest.
Your ancestors do have a Slavic surnames. Our ancestors married within same region, religion (few exceptions) but for sure one common language/dialect to communicate in.
Most likely KURZEJA was from the same area of Podvilk/Podwilk.
