Thank you so much for your offer. There are four Palhegyi lines in the US. We are all from the same three villages and there are people from all of the families interested in finding our connections. About a year ago we hired a Hungarian researcher to travel to Transilvania but he had a lot of difficulty getting permission to research and also he only spent 2 days in the area. He put together a very large family tree and it might be correct but there is no documentation of where he got the information. It leaves more questions than answers. I feel this is a big job. Do you have time to do it or do you know someone who we might hire to do it? We would gladly pay for the service. Also, I have communicated with a few Palhegyi families in Transilvania and in Hungary. I wrote a letter to all that I could find in the telephone books. I have 6 answers. They are also clues to the big picture but I have not connected them yet. They would be good contacts for someone doing research in the area. Your English is perfect. I only wish I had learned Hungarian. Diane

Dear Diane,
There is more better for you, we have in my vife's tree some Palhegyies also, and we know on other Palhegyi descendant from Matisfalva here in our town.
Let us know all information you got till now, and I promise you, that we will finish the research in few months. Will be more easier for us to travel a few hundred kilometers.
Our daughter at this moment are unemployed (Romanian reality), and if you can support the research expensies... is more better.
So, let start!
You can ask about us from John & Jane Canfield, or visit the page. They was here in Transylvania this year in August, also for ancestors research.
(For me is more easy to correspond on direct e-mail address.)

Van ket-harom Palhegyi csalad, akivel meg nem sikerult felvenni a kapcsolatot.
Oket kellene megkeresni, adataikat eljuttatni hozzam, vagy Diane-hoz.
Egyebkent a matisfalvi Palhegyieket es leszarmazottjaikat szinte kivetel nelkul megtalaltuk mar.
De ez egy hosszu munka. Jo esetben 6 ev is kell hozza.

Hello Zsuzsa, Thank you so much for writing. I see that Janos Kocs has sent you a response in Hungarian (Which I can not read) and I assume he has told you of the great success we have had finding my relatives. There are still some mysteries but we find more information every week. Tell me a little about yourself and your grandparents. It seems everyone in Matisfalva must be related in some way. We have discovered that we are directly related to Marta (Zoltani)Mathe. And of course her Uncle Gabor Palhegyi and all his family. I am sure that your grand parents will know them. How old are your grand parents and what is their names? Perhaps they will remember more about my family. My grandfather left Matisfalva in about 1905 to come to the US. His mother was Marta (Lorincz) Palhegyi who lived in the village until she died in 1931. His father was Samuel Palhegyi who died in 1918. Any additional information your family might have would be wonderful. Janos has done a wonderful job in helping us find the family. There are other Palhegyi families here in the US that are not directly related and who we are still looking for their relatives. Some are from Agyagfalva. Thanks again for writing. I look forward to hearing more from you.

I'm sorry, that I didn't write earlier... But now I'm kind of busy. I'm an univesity student and now I'm in my exams session. So I can't help you right now, but when I finish my exams, I do everything what I can. I think I'll spend this summer in Matisfalva, so maybe I could do some researches.
About my grandparents: They were born in Matisfalva in 1933. Their names are Dezso Gabos and Erzsebet Lorincz. I think that we have some Palhegyi relatives, but I'm not sure. I'll ask my grandparents. My grandma knows everything and everybody :)
Well I'll write as soon as I can give you facts. I hope, I can help you :)

I just said to Zsuzsa, that we have contacted almost all of the Palhegyies, but of course any help is welcommed. Zoltan Racz don't answered my mails, and I am still looking for the registers data of Matisfalva (the missed 10 years).

rokonok mondtak el. 1600-ig tudtunk visszamenni a Palhegyi agon, kozel 7 ezer erintett szemelyt talaltunk eddig, es a lanyok vonalai meg nincsenek is feltarva.
Korabban magyarorszagi kutatot kertek fel, de szerintem az a par nap amit a videken tolthetett az uriember semmikepp sem eleg egy alapos munkahoz.
A csaladkutatast amugy sem lehet befejezni soha, csak abbahagyni.
Nehez lesz ezt a tobb honapja tarto kutatast roviden emleselni, de remelem lassan-lassan sikerulhet.

Az erdelyi csaladkutatok munkajanak segitese celjabol 2005-ben ujra eletre hivtuk az Erdelyi Genealogiai (Csaladkutato) Tarsasagot. A lenyege, hogy a tagok egymas kozott szabadon megosztjak az informaciot, segitik egymas munkajat. Eleg gazdag szakirodalom-gyujtemenyt hoztunk mar ossze, es folyamatosan gazdagitjuk adatbazisainkat.
