| andrew p: Re: Perencsiks in the USA | My dad left Hungary in 1956, and came over by plane in the 1960's. His family, living north of Budapest, are all Perencsik. It's on their passports and birth certs. The peculiar thing is that outside his immediate family, there are no Perencsiks we have ever heard of outside these 2 groups: 1) My immediate family in Canada, and 2) My dad's immediate family centered north of Budapest in Hungary. Everyone had girls, so it appears to us the name is about to be extinct, not that that matters. However a search on Google has revealed a Janosz Perencsik unknown to us, he's some accomplished musician living in Budapest or thereabouts.
My dad's father was Hungarian, he did not speak slavic.
When you say "you did not find any Perencik arriving at EI, I don't understand this because you said there were the 2 in your previous email?
First, is Perencsik really of Slovak origin, could it be from another country?
So do you think Perencsik is a misspelling, somebody somewhere dropped the "t", or did some other change to make it seem so rare? Does Perencsik, or Pereneik (if that's how it would be spelled in Slovak) not make sense for a Slovak last name?
Thanks again for your help, this is HUGE news for us. This has been revealing and I am so pleased to find out it is Slovak if it really is |
