Take a look in Ellis Island website. There is a Gabor and Gaborne (Mrs.) PINTE from Nagydobrony. www.ellisislandrecords.org Unfortunately this Gabor did not come to US in 1912 and Mrs. Gabor came with a daughter Borbala. It is a start.
If you great grandfather had social security numbers http://ssdi.rootsweb.com or was naturalized citizen than those forms will have a place of birth.
Spelling variations of PINTE surname (Hungarian / Romanian) could be: PINTYE, PINTEA. I met this family in Marosvasarhely/Tg.Mures, Transylvania (Romania).
