I am searching for information on my late paternal grandmother, Ilona (renamed "Helen") Pyatnitsa (this is the spelling she remembered), who emigrated from Korotnok (Kingdom of Austria-Hungary) about 1913. I have been told her father was the "mayor" of Korotnok sometime between her birth in 1906, and her emigration to the US in or about 1913. I was told her father was murdered, and she emigrated here with her sister, Anna. Her eldest sister, Elizabeth, had already come to the US some years earlier, and settled in Cleveland, OH. I do know she came on the S S George Washington to Ellis Island. We are trying to find any records of grandma and/or her family from the old country. Thank you! |
