To me the surname ending in U suggest Romanian ancestry.
Do you know if this is the correct spelling or was it "americanized"? No one with that name passed thru Ellis Island.

I remember my father talking of a town named Cluj. It was Austria Hungary at that time.

The town of Cluj is in Romania.

Since you want to connect with the family, why not send a letter with family information, include your e-mail and a photo of your ancestor for that "extra" visual aid and see what comes back.

My father was John Priscu. His name was americanised It was Ioan He had a brother Lzaar and 2 sisters. My brother who is decased Nicholas who I think might have been your great uncleall the Priscu boys are deceased There are 2 girls left Myself and a sister who lives in Richmond Elaine Coli

I JUST HAPPENED TO FIND THIS SIGHT ONLINE!! I VISITED ROMANIA IN 1993 AND VISITED MY MOTHER'S OLD BIRTHPLACE! I STAYED WITH FILIMON BUDIU AND HIS CHARMING WIFE AND DAUGHTERS. 'MONEL' HAD A RESPONSIBLE POSITION WITH A LARGE PLANT JUST OUTSDE OF TOWN. WE KEPT IN TOUCH BY COMPUTER OVER THE YEARS. I HAVE BEEN VERY ILL FOR A FEW YEARS OR I WOULD HAVE MADE ANOTHER VISIT TO ROMANIA. I MET SUCH WONDERFUL RELATIVES AND FRIENDS! I WOULD LIKE HEARING FROM THEM!!
