Szivesen venném rokonok, ismerősök jelentkezését akik segítenének összerakni a család múltját.

A trautsondorfi / hercegkúti (a település Sárospatak mellett található) Rák (Rack, Rackh) família családfáját letöltheti a honlapomról ( www.narr.fw.hu )a 'Helytörténeti publikációim' menüben. A Rák családnév meglehetősen ritka hazánkban, ezért gondolom, hogy talán innen származik a nagyapja.

Jeanann: Re: családunk története
Debbi this is sounding very interesting. my grandmothers name was Magdalena and some of her friends called her Helena. she had a sister by the name of Anna and a brother by the name of Peter. I have no idea the names of my grandfathers sibblings. I have a uncle by the name of Steve. There are several Johns in my family-brother, nephews. I also no that my grandmother's fathers name was Stefan and her mothers name was Veronica. I don't no how to pronounce or spell her dads last name. They lived next door to each other kinda their parents (Magdalena and Andreas) farm land boundary touched. I don't have any living relative to give me information but my mother and she has Demetia a diease of the brain. any information your relatives may have could be interesting. My grandmother may have been married a short while there before he died. so i'm not even sure what her last name was before she went to ellis island. they did not come accross at the same time. he came with 2 or 3 other men. either brothers or cousins. ask relatives if this is familiar to them. thanks again jean

Anton, this is the first time in awhile since I have been on this forum so I didn't see your post. Any information you have on relatives who lived in Lacarack would be great news. I have very little information on them. I do believe my grandmother Magdalena Wellenberger had a sister by the name of Ana.She had a brother by the name of Peter or Paul.I could be wrong but there may have been red headed twin girls in the family also but not sure.Has anyone said anything about a girl in the family who had her heal on one foot shot off by a soldier as she was running away? Like I said any info would be great. My great grandmother who married Steven, Stefan , Wellenberger her maiden name was Stranc or Strann or Stranz. Does any of this match with what you no? Thanks in advance for any help. jeanann

hamer07: Re: Rak family
This is what I know of my family.
Andres Josef Rak married Kathrine ? .
They had Elizabeth Rack 1860-1942.
Elizabeth married Anton Hammer.
In 1900 they had a son Anton Hammer.
He married Ana Wellenberger.

Wellenbergers: Jacob Wellenberger (Born:? 1886-1949 died:Udenberg Austria) married Maria Reis (Erdevik Serbia 1884-1961 Germany), and they had Ana Wellenberger (Lacarak 1906-2004 Sydney Australia), then Valentine (passed away in Germany), Stefan (Germany), Maria (Magdelana), Fransz, and Elizabeth(who passed away in the U.S.A. in 2007).
Of my family, Ana Wellenberger married Anton Hammer (Laracark 1900-1931 Lacarak)
they had Michael (Lacarak 1929-1983 Wollongong Australia) and Anton (my father) (Lacarak 1931- ) who both came to Australia. My father remambers Lacarak and the family, and we are still writing it all down.

Why Australia? In 1944 during WWII, Donau Schwabien Germans were no longer welcome in Serbia, some of the Hammer family fled to Germany, some to Austria on one of the last trains out of Yugoslavia, and those that stayed in October 1944 perished. Russians came through supporting the new Serbian regime reclaiming land.
My family were refugees in Austria until 1950, the Hammer family (now Hamer) came to Australia as refugees via Italy. The waiting list to get to the US was too long.
Let me know how I can contact you and I can give you more details. Cheers Anton

Andreas Hammer: Hammer / Rak - Lacarak
Hy Jeanann, hy Anton, Hy Josie,

I've just read all the forum and I am really astonished about what I've read.
My name is Andreas Hammer and I am living in Stadl-Paura, Austria, where a camp for Danube Swabians, the so called "Donauschwaben", has been located after WWII.
Here are still living some older people from Lacarak (which is located in Serbian-Croation-boarder-region, in a region which was formerly called "Vojvodina") and the surrounding.
For example Katharina Rak, who was married with Josef Rak, as well as Stefan Rak, the son of Stefan Rak senior, who was also born in Lacarak. He was a friend of my grandfather, Andreas Hammer, who was also born there on 18.04.1919. (I think, I also have a picture of Stefan Rak and my grandfather.)

The parents of my grandfather were Johann Hammer and Katharina Hammer (her birth name was also Hammer, as far as I know). Tomorrow I can ask my father Johann Hammer about their birth dates. My father has also visited Lacarak a couple of years ago. And he knows a lot of the families which fled from this region. He has also organised a meeting for these families and their descendants about 15 years ago, the so called "Lagertreffen". For this event, several hundreds of people, who where born in that region, came from all over the world to meet their former friends and neighbours. I also have a film from that event.
I would really appreciate to keep in contact with you and to change informations about our forefathers.

Best regards from Austria
Andreas

Andreas Hammer: Re: hammer family
oh Pete,

I have known Ferdinand - Ferko - Hammer as well. He died some years ago here in Stadl-Paura, Austria. He used to live in Detroit, Michigan, for about 35 years before he was taken to court and banished from America because they found him guilty for cruelties during WWII, he haven't even thought about. Ok, he was a member of the SS, (like everyone, who didn't want to get killed for desertion by Hitler's "dogs") but he didn't work in a KZ, as they accused him of. So, he worked 35 years in the U.S. and when he retired he was sent back to Austria, where he died alone, while his family was and is still in Detroit.

Why or what do you know about him???

regards
Andreas

Have you posted on Czech Republic's Ancestry and Genforum board?
Not finding Orkesanec in Czech Republic but there are 3 Skryjes in Czech Republic so most likely by one of them.
