Zlatica : Regl
The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing a Roman Catholic church records from 1685 -1895 for Szolnok later called Mosonszolnok.

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :

Giles: Re: Regl
Thanks for the answer. I have searched all the LDS records fr Mosonszolnok. Found much on later family history. Problem is Grt. Grandfather first appears there in 1821 when first child of first marriage was born. There is no record prior to 1821. That is why I was hoping to contact someone there named Regl who might perhaps be of same family & would have information. All family members were gone from Mosonszolnok by 1900. I visited there in 1973- befriended a Nun, had audience with the Bishop. I have an enlarged version of the map on my wall in a frame also.

Zlatica : Re: Regl
Your welcome.
The name REGL to me founds German. Could your ancestor come from Germany or Austria?
Have you checked out the Regls that passed thru Ellis Island?
Did you post on lets say Austrian or German boards?

Do you have this website? Maybe it can be of some use to you.

Good luck.

Giles: Re: Regl
Yes the name was Austrian German. Strange rumors from family members that I dislike repeating- but they claim Grt Grandfather was an illegitmate of the former ruling family. Grandfather Janos Bene named after his Godfather - T. Bene Janos- Uradalmi Ellenor= Hungarian Altenburg estate (Ovar) I was hoping the Gyula Regl- Csepel mght be from this family . I am now quite old- Mother died 1991 - age almost 101- I had promised her to try to find ancestors- her Mother died when she was 8 yrs old- her father a few year later. She then was raised by Sister of Mercy & trained to be a nurse. Thanks again for your help. Giles
