Zlatica : Re: grandfather
You will need to locate an exact name of a town for your ancestor in order to further your research.

There were 1255 REITERs that passed thru Ellis Island. Maybe you can check out some of those Jacob's, Jakob's manifests.

There is even Magdolna ROLCZHAUSER arriving in 1905 from Panpas (Paripas?).

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed church records so you can gather ancestral information.

www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ESE/dsinfo.htm

Parabutsch is Parabuc,Yugoslavia aka Paripas,Parabuty, Hungary.

www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm (mapquest) is a good locator of places.

Tim: Re: grandfather
Thank-you for the reply,I was always told that my grandfather Jakob Reiter was born in Budapest.I have checked every Jakob Reiter and any name close to it in Ellis Island records and none of them are him,I am thinking he may have came through another port. This Magdolna Rolczhauser is my grandmother but the spelling is wrong for her first name it should be Magdalena, and the town spelling should be Paripas. Is there a way to get the FHC records without going to a FHC? Thanks,Tim

Zlatica : Re: grandfather
Check this website for names:
www.fam.aust.com/topolcsany/names

Your Jacob could be on Ellis Island but his name might have been misspelled or transcribed with a letter B or P instead of an R.
www.stevemorse.org
www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html

You can not view any film on the internet. You will have to view it in the FHC Library.
