I'm looking for info on my family name of Rheinlander - actually it's my great great grandmothers maiden name. I thought that she was from Germany, but now I find that it's an Hungarian name! Any infor out there on this surname?

hi there,

my last name is rheinländer (rheinlaender) and thats the original name and i can say that it is a german name. i live in germany. to be exactly, i live in rheinland pfalz.
thats a province that lays in southwest germany. rheinlaenders who immigrated to the u.s. later named themselves rheinlander or even rhinelander.
