Hello Tim,

I've checked what radixindex.com has for the Rolczhauszer or the Rolczhauser surname. There is one hit in the 1891 Industry and trade directory: Mihaly (Michael) Rolczhauszer is listed in Parabuty. Checking the various names for this settlement it turns out that one of its names is Paripas (Paripás). Hey, that's pretty close to "panpas"! - Probably "panpas" is a misspelling/misreading for Paripas.

Other names for Paripas are: Parabutsch (German), Parabuc (Serb), Parabuty, Paripás (Hungarian). The settlement is now in Serbia, and it's called Ratkovo. This is in a region called Batschka with many Donauswabian (ethnic German) settlers.

Dave Dreyer has been preparing a list of people leaving Hungary from the regions inhabited by ethnic Germans in the early 20th century:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~banatdata/Batschka/Paripas.htm
Scroll down that page, there are 2 more Rolczhausers from Paripas.

Also, you won't regret joining the Banat mailing list by rootsweb:
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/HUN/BANAT.html

Hope this helps.
